“Excellent holiday rental”
Reviewed 29 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We have just come back from a weeks stay at Gorselands and it was absolutely wonderful. The house is well kept and was clean and tidy on arrival. We had no problems during our stay but Ocean Cottages (who manage the property) made everything very clear in their e mails to me prior to our arrival and were helpful with all queries before our stay. Thank you Ocean Cottages for the tea, milk and chocolate cake on arrival, this was a well needed treat after a long drive.

The apartment is bright and spacious. We did not have any young children with us so the snug room did not get used very much. We were a group of 2 adult couples and my 18 year old son. This also meant that one of the couples were in a room with two single beds as there is only a double bed in the master bedroom. The kitchen was large and had all the appliances we needed. Both the master bedroom and one or the rooms upstairs has lovely views of woolacombe and the beach. The pictures on the website don't do the property and views justice but the description is perfect.

The games and DVD collection came in very handy as there were a couple of days with bad weather.
The balcony has a gorgeous view of the beach and is a bit of a sun trap, which was great for chilling out on.

It is easy to get to the beach, shops and pubs/restaurants from the house, but there is a steep hill if you are walking back to the house.
Woolacombe is a lovely small seaside town, perfect for family holidays. There is not a massive amount of things to do in the town but there are plenty of day trips and activities a short drive away. Our group had a lot of fun climbing around the rocks and looking in the rock pools on the beach as well as playing crazy golf and shopping in the local shops. The londis in woolacombe is a bit expensive but there is a large tesco about 15 mins drive away towards ilfracombe.

All in all a good holiday was had by all of us.

“Beautiful location”
Reviewed 29 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

After staying in this property twice 6 years ago it was interesting to see how it had changed under new management. We were welcomed with milk and cake and the whole property was clean and tidy. The view is incredible from the master bedroom, balcony and sitting area and is definitely a highlight of the property. In the kitchen you have everything you need and the snug room was great for the children to play and watch their own TV. After a long day on the beach the walk back up is steep but is a short walk especially if you take the pretty footpath along the bottom of the garden. The garage is very useful to keep your boards and sandy stuff in and includes a rail to hang wet suits up to dry. Overall the place is quiet and homely!

“We would love to return tomorrow!”
Reviewed 24 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Ocean Cottages were great and replied promptly to any questions we raised, the property is ,in fact, more stunning than the photos on the website show.
We were lucky enough to have good weather and made full use of the balcony, which had amazing views,as did the master bedroom.
Gorselands was really clean and had a lovely relaxing, seaside feel throughout. With two young Grandsons in our party ,the space was really good and they used the snug as a playroom, racing cars and fighting dinosaurs!
Woolacombe is a wonderful place for a family holiday, as well as the beautiful beach and rockpools, the Pirate Adventure park was great fun for a morning.
We visited Ilfracombe and had a trip on the lifeboat (half an hour for £5.50) I don't recommend it if the sea has the slightest wave !-extremely rocky!
Coombe Martin wildlife and Dinosaur Park was very good and very close by.The boys loved the sealion show and all the various animals incl. monkeys and parrots.
We used the local Londis for top-up shopping but found Tesco on the outskirts of Ilfracombe very useful for a family of six and only a short drive away.
We enjoyed the unspoilt coastline and quiet village, both very clean, the most, other than the accommodation which will take some beating.
If you don't want to pay for parking and prefer to walk to the beach, it isn't far but very steep on the return journey, especially with two buggies and beach essentials!
