No. 9 on The Green in Shaldon “Compass Cottage” is ideally situated for a relaxing holiday. It is close to all the village amenities – Teignmouth Ferry, Village Store, Baker, Butcher, Fish & Chip Shop and the local inns.
The cottage is bijou with a master double bedroom and a smaller bedroom to the rear which houses two bunk beds. The bathroom has a bath with a shower overhead and a WC. From the lounge, you can watch the bowls on the green when there is a game on. There is a basic equipped kitchen but with all the good food opportunities in the area for us the kitchen was little used. The cottage also has good Wi-Fi connectivity.
This is a dog friendly cottage for an area that offers lovely coastal path walks and a number of beaches on which dogs are allowed even during the summer season.
There is no designated parking space with this property but we were able to find a parking space with little difficulty.
Would I stay here again? – Yes, this rental offers VFM in a beautiful area and its facility met our requirements. Thanks.
situated overlooking the village bowling green, in the centre of shaldon. so handy for local amenities. a pretty cottage, good size lounge. our first impression when walking into it though was the smell of dogs, which if the window had been opened & some air freshener sprayed by the cleaner could have been avoided, also the cushions on the sofa smelt. on the subject of cleaning in the main bedroom window was a large cobweb. while this is a lovely cottage i feel it is let down by the bathroom, described as compact there was no reference to the sloping ceiling above the bath , making it totally unsuitable for tall people & coming out the bathroom door to the two steps you had to remember to duck to avoid banging your head, which we both done at first. maybe move the bathroom to where the second bedroom is or make one large bathroom, lose the second bedroom & have a sofa bed downstairs. the curtain rails in the lounge & bedroom need to be replaced as well , the bedroom one is loose. cottage just needs a homely touch.
