A blissful nine nights spent at the Lodge on the Lake. Upon arrival, we were given a warm welcome by John and made to feel at home immediately. The lodge is set in the most beautiful, tranquil and very secluded countryside. We felt so relaxed and happy. The accommodation is enchanting. Lie in the hammock, sit in the hot tub (absolutely wonderful!!), fish in the lake or just chill with a book on the deck and take in the glorious scenery. Star gazing is amazing as it's a light show when the sky is clear - great to see shooting stars again. It's a true back to nature experience and one that will leave you feeling rested and recharged. We thoroughly enjoyed John's company and he was great with our son patiently teaching him how to fish. To quote our son, "it was the best place ever" - he's ten and has been to the all singing and dancing all-inclusive hotels abroad, so that's quite a statement! John, thank you. We loved your lodge, we loved your company and we hope to see you again soon. Andrew, Myra and Martin x

Without a doubt an amazing place and set up.
Both John & Barbara are both amazing people and have and provided a special venue for those that require a tranquil and beautiful surroundings. They both have that 'special touch' when it comes to hotel management. Well done!!

They made us feel so welcome on arrival and during our short weekend stay. So much so that we will be returning in the summer 2015.

Rooms are clean and spacious; have their own comforts including TV and tea/coffee set up. The dining area is just as comfortable and provides for relaxing after dinner conversations with other guests. They also have the option for BBQ's which is situated on the lake. Great views of the local area and wild life and if you like a strole then this will suit your requirements.

We drove into nearby Kingsbridge and Dartmouth which has its own rewards, however Valley Springs has much to offer and we would recommend The Lodge on The Lake to everyone that reads this..

Room Tip: all rooms have excellant views and amenities.

An amazing find deep in the South Hams countryside! The accommodation was lovely with our own deck over the water where we drank our wonderfully refreshing jug of Pimms on arrival! The lakes and valley are enchanting and breakfast served outside on the large protruding decking was delicious with fresh home produce.
The owners are friendly and welcoming. Indeed they cannot do enough for you! Recommend this lovely lodge wholeheartedly.

Kerry and I were determined to try and stop saying WOW here!! However, this place lends itself to it constantly! It just shouldn't be referred to as a b & b, it has to have a new title, something as special as IT is! When we first arrived, John, the owner was all for us getting to and enjoying our beautiful room (Kerry probably was too) but I was besotted with Johns fleet of magnificent vintage cars. When I was finally dragged away from them, the WOW's came quick again!
We are both get up and go people but, in truth, Kerry in particular needed and deserved a chill out time. This splendid place lent itself to us getting into some tiny clothes and reading our books, laid out on the decking floating over the lake, and with the sound of water beside us. Just occasionally we'd watch the fish and their activities beside us.
When we forced ourselves to leave to look at the local area, we were dumbfounded by all the stunning places that we saw, how much better can you get? Barbara is an absolute darling, everyone whoever meets her will warm to her, she is special too!
We cannot praise this enough and wish to thank them so much. Every human being should be able to stay here.
We simply didn't want to go!

Room Tip: Its not possible to have anything but a good room
