“Excellent accommodation, shame about the weather!”

The accommodation and setting were excellent and the cottage facilities provided everything I needed and more. I didn't even try the oven, dishwasher and washer/dryer as, while enjoying long walks, I usually try to fit in a pub/café lunch. This was easy in the surrounding area as there are many high quality dining facilities, some within a couple of miles of the cottage. I was very grateful for the log burner in the cottage if only to cheer up a couple of very damp evenings - it wasn't needed for warmth but the weather was appalling on a couple of evenings and it created a cheery glow. The coastal path provides some breathtaking views, particularly around Start Point and, for the wet days, there were undercover places to visit worth the trip.

“Fantastic cottage in a peaceful setting”

Rose Cottage was exceptional - one of the best self catering cottages we have ever stayed in. It is in a lovely peaceful setting with a private patio garden to relax in on warm evenings. The cottage itself was furnished to a very high standard and had everything you could possibly want on holiday.
The cottage is only a short drive to the coast where we went on some lovely walks and had some wonderful crab sandwiches at the Cricket Inn in Beesands.

“luxurious Devon cottage for two”

Just spent a delightful week at Rose cottage. Luxurious and well equipped accommodation with nice touches like fresh flowers to greet us and a welcome pack including fresh eggs from their own hens. Also worth trying their own bacon and sausages from Piers's rare breed pigs, we enjoyed sitting in own garden watching the birds eating from the feeders and with the occasional glimpse of the local buzzard! You can see the sea from the bottom of the garden. Loads to do in the area, do try walking from Beesands to Start Point and then return to Beesands to eat fish and chips from the Britannia on the Beach restaurant. We were made very welcome by Piers and Sue and hope to return next year.

“Excellent accommodation in a beautiful location”

Rose cottage was ideal for us to relax in after a hectic few weeks. The welcome basket contained eggs, bread, butter and much more - just what you need when you first arrive, and the kitchen was fully equipped and very modern.
The enclosed garden was delightful and full of bird song which we really enjoyed. The owners Piers and Sue were extremely friendly and helpful. The wi-fi was a bit hit and miss but that's just Devon in general. Will definitely make a return visit when we have more time.

“Home-from-home (but with better scenery).”

Just the 2 of us following up family history research in the area for a few days. Rose Cottage was absolutely perfect for 2 : very well equipped and we used it as a home-from-home, eating in every night. A wood-burning stove gave it a cosy ambience. There is other accommodation on site which would be perfect for a family particularly with young children as there are pigs, hens, sheep, a very friendly yard dog (Jack) - and a fabulous collection of hedgerow birds using the sheltered feeders. Even the weather was kind. Thanks to Sue and Piers for the welcome pack of local goodies.
