The pub itself and the staff were warm and welcoming. The pub has lots of charm and character. We arrived on Good Friday evening in the pouring rain so our first impression was one of excitement as the scene was romantic and having already viewed the menu online we thought we were in for a perfect evening! The food was the let down. We both ordered scallops, £9.00 each and when it arrived we had 2 scallops which I feel is not value. We had the highly acclaimed bouillabaisse, again very disappointing, luke warm on arrival and after all the faffing about with the shelled fish the meal was cold. The sauce was watery and tasteless only livened up by the aioli. Again the price did not match up with what was on the plate, we are seafood lovers and still wondering where the seafood was.
I would return to enjoy the pubs quaintness and atmosphere but I would not eat here again.

We visited the restaurant on the Sunday of the Easter weekend. We were two families on holiday together. Firstly, we were kept waiting by the waiter who merrily chatted to friends when we arrived.

We checked that all of the food on the menu was still available and was told it was. My friend and I ordered the fish bouillabaisse - which should have had, fresh pan fried fish, shellfish with a rich crab bisque. What was served was a disaster. Completely over cooked, dried out mussels, dried out fish, 2 prawns and one tiny crab leg with 2 potatoes. Bisque served on the side. We were given crab utensils, so there should have been crab - this had obviously all gone. We complained to three different people about the poor quality of the food and the lack of some of the ingredients and no one wanted to acknowledge it. My friends husband settled the bill so I did not have the opportunity to refuse to pay.

Sadly, it felt as though the kitchen had run out of key ingredients for the meals but carried on serving them to get as much money. I can’t think of the last time when I had such a bad meal and total disrespect from the staff, about poor quality.

Such an amazing venue let down by the staff and the poor quality food.

Had a wonderful meal at the tower inn. Absouty couldn't fault the food, house wine was fantastic and we were served by some very attentive staff. The inn itself is full of character and dog friendly! Would definitely recommend, it's a real gem.

This is always a lovely place to go, such a nice gem of a pub, nice atmosphere, friendly and efficient service and now to boot they are doing a 3 course vegan menu for £20. Such amazing value, delicious food, the Sticky Toffee Pudding with vanilla ice cream was gorgeous. We will definitely return.

Today the sun shone and a 3 mile round walk from Slapton Ley fitted the bill. We broke the walk half way for lunch and although inside was cosy and inviting we chose to sit in the courtyard area at the front of the Inn in the sunshine. It was sunny and sheltered. Our cream of leek soup and pulled pork slides ( a small bun bursting with meat) were all delicious. We shall definitely return!
