We had two nights here and it was lovely. Great welcoming staff, fantastic food and a beautiful location. We wanted somewhere to relax after a recent house move and it couldn't get better than sitting in the sun on the terrace enjoying a cream tea! Having read the other reviews I was concerned about what the room may be like but we weren't disappointed. Lobelia was charming, looking out the front of the hotel and very well appointed. We also found breakfast service a little slow, but, the perfectly cooked scrambled eggs were worth the wait!

Room Tip: Lobelia was a lovely room for the price, although leave the window open if the sun is shining, it ge...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for one night (how we wished it were many more) in late June whilst visiting friends. From entering the imposing reception to departing the next day what impressed us was the quality, friendliness and efficiency of every member of staff we met.

The room was beautifully appointed and possessed the biggest and most comfortable bed we have ever encountered. Breakfast was stunning and the only down note was we had to leave!

Room Tip: Our room was number 9. Demand it!

Thisis the second time we have stayed ond I cannot speak more highly about the service and front of house. This time we also had an evening meal and found it to be of really good quality, perfectly cooked (and I had fish which is so often overdone) and quite reasonably priced.
We will be back.

A charming Country House hotel set in the South Hams. All staff at Buckland Tout-Saints were very friendly and helpful. The location is a little remote down very narrow high hedged country lanes, but I guess that's what adds to it's charm and attractiveness to many. It has very nice grounds and views of the surrounding countryside.
Be aware that the traditional classic bedroom called "Peony" is at the rear of the hotel and only has a view of a grass bank and shrubs. Immediately below the bedroom is the hotel kitchen and the clatter of large pots and pans etc is clearly heard within the bedroom. Further, the noise of the kitchen extractor fan system (operating daily between 7.15am and approx 9.30pm) is clearly heard within the bedroom even when the double glazed windows are closed. The room tends to be a warm and stuffy room so it is necessary to keep the windows open to make it more comfortable, this may be due to its location directly above the kitchen? Below the bedroom window is the service lane for deliveries to the kitchen and also contains the waste bins. If you are looking for a peaceful stay at this lovely hotel, avoid booking this room.

Room Tip: Avoid booking room 6 also known as "Peony".

Just returned frommidweek break. Fantastic location. Room was a classic double on the top floor. The entrance to the room was up three staircases and along a very narrow passage which felt quite claustrophobic. The room was a good size but had only a very small window for ventilation which made the room stuffy. The cleanliness of the room could have been better. There were tea stains on the cupboard and drawers. The shower was in a very small area much like a walk-in single wardrobe. There was no room to move once the door was closed and the toilet was right next to the heated towel rail. So be careful when sitting down!
We spent two nights here and had lovely breakfasts. When we came to settle the bill - well we had been charged for two evening dinners and a bottle of wine plus some telephone calls which we did not make or dinners which we did not have either. The receptionist apologised but had no explanation why this should have happened. Not sure if we would revisit unless it was a superior room. I felt that it was not good value even though we had a discount with latebooking.com.

Room Tip: make sure you get a superior room
