“Next time we'll stay for longer”

We stayed here on our way to a holiday in Cornwall, and arrived in pouring rain. Tea and cake soon made us feel better and the stylish, comfortable room and warm welcome helped. Dinner was delicious and plentiful, and the ambience was so friendly - guests all chatting to each other and to the hosts. They are clearly in the right business - they know how to entertain guests and obviously enjoy it. We were quite envious of those who had taken advantage of the great walking in the area, and resolved to do so ourselves in future. Apart from the enjoyment, it would make me feel justified in eating so well! I didn't sleep very well but that was because of the wind and rain rather than any failing in the room.

Such a lovely quiet location. The hotel is a beautiful old house which is furnished and decorated beautifully. Our room, Jasmin, had the most comfortable bed ever. The food was wonderful and there was a very good selection of wine. Within 5 mins walk you join the coastal footpaths. We did a walk to Heddons mouth and the Hunters Inn which had stunning views all the way. My only disappointment was the time of year I chose to visit. The hotel has the most beautiful gardens which would be perfect for sitting in on a warm summers day. Perhaps i'll make a repeat visit next year.....

This was our third visit and the experience just gets better every time.
The situation is idyllic far away from the stress and bustle of metropolitan life. Sam and Huw have added two new rooms surpassing the previous high standards. Their taste is impeccable. The rooms are luxurious, spacious and so comfortable.
The hotel has such a personal ethos, your hosts making you feel like old, cherished friends.
The predinner drinks and canapes enable the guests to mingle and chat at will. The food is superb and the timing and service spot on.
Ideal for walkers and those just wanting to chill out and enjoy the country side.
Well done guys!

Just returned from our third visit to the Old Rectory this year - and already can't wait to go back! It's such a beautiful place to visit and the food is fantastic. There's a warm feeling of comfort and calm as you walk through the door and you are definitely in safe hands with Huw and Sam. There is no end to the superlatives I could use to describe this hotel, they definitely deserve to be No1!
