Beautiful views, very good beds, lovely envirement, great hosts. We had a very nice stay here. Family of four, good breakfast, lots to see/sea and to do, i.e. Agatha Christies Greenway, Dartmouth, Dartmoor.

Room Tip: if there is anything: after 3 days a bit more variation in breakfasts?

Had a very wet weekend in Devon. Downton made it memorable for the right reasons. The locations is lovely and quiet. We enjoyed the walk to the pub at Dittisham, too.Andrew was a charming and excellent host. Looking forward to seeing the new lodge when it's complete.

My mum & I stayed here for a few days as part of a ‘childhood holiday revisited’ trip... from the moment we got to this hidden gem of a find, we were smitten! The proprietors, Andrew & Martin, were the most wonderful hosts; their attention to detail was second to none, we couldn’t find fault with anything (not that we were looking!) A home from home environment, plus a balcony overlooking the beautiful garden & countryside...my only wish was that we stayed there much longer! From the well thought out lay out of the lodge, the home cooked full English...to the lovely dogs belonging to the owners & great conversation with Andrew over a prolonged breakfasts (sorry!!) I would not highly recommend this to others as I want it all to myself!!!! Will be booking our next years summer break with Mum here in the very near future

Downton Lodge is tucked well out of the way of South Hams tourists yet close to everything you might want to do.
Our room (Dartmouth) was charming....very comfortable with a really good bed, crisp cotton sheets, fluffy towels, quality toiletries, bathrobes and much more with stunning uninterrupted views over the rolling Devon countryside to the sea..... Yes, you could see the sea.
Everything you could want in the way of facilities is provided. The hosts (Andrew & Martin) made us feel very welcome and obviously take great pride in what they do. Every detail was well thought out and carefully executed, without being too fussy. The breakfasts are cooked in front of you and were made up of delicious ingredients.

The peace and quiet of Downton made a perfectly relaxing and enjoyable stay for us. A beautiful treat for our wedding anniversary.
Thank you for our stay, we enjoyed it very much.

Room Tip: Dartmouth room has stunning views and a small balcony. All rooms seemed good.

Our recent stay at Downton Lodge was, in every way, a totally enjoyable experience. The Lodge is beautifully maintained and managed, including excellent breakfast offerings that provide time to chat with the other guests. Those chats with guests and management invariably provide valuable information as to where to go and what to see and do! The guest rooms are wonderfully furnished and comfortable in every way. They provide outstanding views of the surrounding countryside. We enjoyed fully every aspect of our stay at the Lodge and definitely recommend it.
