“unique converted barn, away from the maddening crowd.”
Reviewed 18 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

If you are looking for somewhere quiet this is it.We stayed here for 3 nights mid Feb 2015 and found everything to our satisfaction .The owners were very friendly and have thought of everything .The log fire was a feature and together with the electric heating we were never cold.Upstairs the bedroom with ensuite was massive with a 6 foot bed beautifully presented with the bedding. A wonderful old country pub 15 mins walk down a country lane did superb meals it was so popular booking is recommended. We would have no hesitation to book again and really enjoyed our stay.

“Superb cottage in a beautiful location”
Reviewed 27 January 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We stayed at a the Shippon for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of London. It was better than we could have expected, and we were taken aback by the attention to detail in the property.

The building itself is stunning and has the original features of wooden beams and stone steps, hundreds of years old. The bathroom and kitchen are new, with a lovely shower, and a well thought out choice of good quality kitchen stuff. We cooked some great meals including breakfasts with local eggs sold by the neighbours.

The bed is really comfortable and although we went in the middle of winter, the cottage is easy to keep warm with plentiful logs for the wood burning stove and also electric heaters in each room.

The owners are very friendly, thoughtful and have great local knowledge.

The local pub is a 10 minute walk and serves good food. Within moments of getting there we had made new friends!

Dartmoor itself has a wild and rugged beauty and is steeped in history. Its easy to get to local towns such as Totnes and to the beach, and the area is unspoiled with clean air and no light or noise pollution- coming from a city, you really notice the difference.

We would happily go back and thoroughly recommend The Shippon for a relaxing, rejuvenating break.
