“Beautiful. Isolated. Perfect ”
Reviewed 21 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We stayed here for Valentines weekend and it was just wonderful. The Shippon is warm and cosy - the lovely log burner and additional heaters ensuring we were toasty. The bed was huge and really comfortable. The shower was lovely. Good storage and fully stocked kitchen.
It was so quiet and isolated which was perfect. The owners are closeby if needed but overall left us to ourselves which was lovely. Widdecombe in the moor is only a short walk away and has a couple of great pubs and a really beautiful gift shop now full of local art and crafts. Thoroughly recommend staying here, if you want a place far away from hustle and bustle then this is ideal. We will be returning in the summer.

“Peaceful Heaven”
Reviewed 5 January 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We stayed for 4 nights over new year 2014/2015.
We had one day of glorious sunshine, where we walked all day, taking in the amazing Dartmoor countryside.
The rest of the week we stayed in, read books, ate, and relaxed, and loved it. :)

The property has been renovated very sympathetically and is decorated to a high standard throughout.
It is very comfy and cosy, warm and welcoming.
The owners Stephen and Fiona were very helpful and friendly.

The location is great.
There is lots of open Moor to explore, Widecombe in the Moor is an hours walk away.

Highly recommended, we would stay again.

“Liberating”

We stayed for 9 days in mid Sept. All the previous reviews say it all, really very very good in all aspects. Peace, quiet and tranquility with superb scenery as a backdrop. The cottage was well appointed, cosy(with a wood burner)and very clean. All mod cons provided and kitchen exceptionally well equipped. No Wi Fi,no TV,no radio and no signal for the mobile phone, utter bliss and total release from the hectic pace of every day living,we found the experience very liberating and meaningful. We would not hesitate to stay there again and highly recommend it to those looking for somewhere special to get away from it all.

“Loved it!”

We loved everything about this wonderfully compact yet complete cottage, from the large picture postcard window looking out onto the farm paddocks and horses, to the welcoming committee of dogs and Shetland pony. The owners are very friendly and helpful and the location is perfect for getting away from it all and unwinding.

Come with the intention of getting back to a simpler way of life - tramping around the moors, then curling up with a glass of wine, good book or crossword in the evenings. If you are looking for TV and Internet, you will be disappointed as this is not the place for you. There are excellent walking trails all around and the beautiful village of Widdecombe nearby. Pick up your groceries from nearby Bovey Tracey before you arrive as there are fewer supplies available at Widdecombe.

We had a wonderful week here and would happily stay at Yonder Shippon and Dartmoor again.

Liked best: The quaintness of the cottage
Liked least: The narrow farm lanes on the moors
