I saw pictures of Point Park and asked the man who checked us in at our hotel where it was. He didn’t know. Unfortunately for him, he was missing out on a hidden gem just 15 minutes from the hotel. There are lots of signs to Ruby Falls and Lookout Mountain, however, not very good marketing for this landmark, which is at the top of Lookout Mountain. I am not a battlefield fan, but found the plaques still very interesting. The views of Chattanooga and beyond are phenomenal. Just below the Park is also Craven House which also affords very nice views. The cost for the Park is $7.00 per person, which is on an honor system. The machines take cards, too. If you park in the lot behind the restrooms, it’s free. If you park on the road you have to pay. Follow the paths behind the monument to the small museum overlooking the city.

Had the opportunity to join in on a ranger program, and was very pleased! It really helped me to better understand what I was seeing and really get the perspective the Confederates had during the siege.

I would definitely return to this park. The views are beautiful and the trails are awesome. Some of the trails are concrete and others are not. Plaques with information about the Civil War can be found throughout the park.

If you love history then this is a must see.
The battles that are talked about aren’t taught in most history books. It also makes you realize what the soldiers on both sides had to endure. Great place to go if you also like hiking.
