“Beautiful spacious and well equipped cottage with lovely gardens.”
Reviewed 4 September 2018 for a stay in July 2018

This is a beautiful cottage, well maintained to a high standard, and well equipped.

We were 6 adults - myself and the wife plus my son & daughter and their partners - and my German Shepherd, and we had 3 cars between us which we could all park onsite.

We particularly liked the "boot room" - basically a side entrance into a hallway with a large 'coconut' type mat on the floor and a bench seat where it was easy to remove wet footwear and towel down the dog before entering the living space.

The bedrooms were all quite large and we found the beds really comfortable.

The 'wow!' factor for us was the huge conservatory along one full side of the property, which we practically lived in. It gives you the feeling of being in the garden, watching the wildlife (we saw plenty of birds, butterflies, a couple of rabbits and squirrels) and under the open sky, but you're still indoors warm & dry on two comfortable sofas. There's also a table and chairs in there as well which we used instead of the dining room.

The garden itself is split into a number of areas surrounding the house with a combination of lawns, flowers, and mature shrubs and trees. Also there are two patio areas with tables/chairs for al-fresco dining or just relaxing, if the british weather allows.

About 10 or 15mins walk up the lane from the cottage, you go through a gate and you're on the moors. If you are taking a dog, be advised there are plenty of sheep, cattle and even horses roaming wild - with the inevitable opportunity to step in plenty of 'nature' if you don't look where you're going.

There aren't really any shops or even a pub within a couple miles, so be prepared to drive through narrow windy lanes to get anywhere.

If you want a quiet peaceful getaway (which we all did), this is definitely the place. There are no streetlights around to spoil the dark night skies, and its location means its free from passing traffic.

My only criticism would be that there were a number of sheds around the large garden, but they were all locked (with the exception of the garage but it was full of a car while we were there). My son and his fiance brought bikes with them and it would have been useful to have been able to store them in one of the garden outbuildings.
