Stayed for nine nights with our family of four. Superb accommodation and host; everything we needed was here. Michael offered a warm welcome and was always ready with prompt assistance. Excellent location meant we could walk to the local bakery for their delicious bread and pop out to nearby shops on foot for supplies. Ashburton is wonderful too - great for Dartmoor and the beaches but isn't overrun. Parking was challenging for our low-suspension car - but there is public parking available nearby. Lovely outdoor pool and excellent chocolate shop across the road as well. We'd love to return in future.
We wanted a large house, with plenty of room for 3 generations to share without getting under each others' feet, and this fitted the bill with room to spare. The house was well equipped, with plenty of local info, books, tv options, and even a guitar (shame none of us can play) to fill those quiet moments.
Ashburton is lovely, small and friendly, but with all the facilities that you need and a wealth of history. And very laid-back ... most of the shops don't open until 9.30am, and very few were open on Sunday or the Bank Holiday. Consequently, it doesn't feel like a tourist hot-spot ... just a perfect place to relax.
Loads of options for a day out, but the jewel in the crown has to be the wild expanse of Dartmoor, right on the doorstep.
If you don't feel more relaxed after a couple of days here, then you're just wired wrong.
