Wonderful walk to The Sloop Inn. Lovely pub, friendly staff! BUT...... The worst mushroom soup I have ever tasted, poured it out onto the pebbles outside as was embarrassed to complain, watery and very thick in consistency.

The Sloop Inn was a very welcome after a long day walking the coast path. The beer tasted off though - I’ve drunk kegs of Proper Job and the lines need changing - mentioned this to the bar staff but blank response. The food was adequate, but certainly not exceptional - fish tasted freshly defrosted and the the chips straight out of a bag. Would have expected better. But it was physically difficult to buy a beer - with slow drinking locals to dominating the bar area. Shame. Nice pub. Same on Sunday.

Always an issue parking in Bantham generally. The pub/hotel car park is small and usually full. during the day you have to pay to use the Bantham estate car park, in the evening you can find a space for free. The upside is that there is usually a great atmosphere, especially in the evenings when the locals get in, and the food is excellent. Always fishy specials on the menu although they are popular so do sell out! We always try get here when in the area and have never been disappointed. Very dog friendly and great walks on the beach when the tide is out. Also an easy walk after a days surfing. We'll be back!

We booked two nights with my husband’s parents as they love to come to Bantham yearly and always stay at the Sloop.

6 rooms in total, we had rooms 1 & 2, we gave them room 2 as it was much bigger. Felt like we should have paid less for our room seeing it was significantly smaller. We were charged the same for both rooms.

Room is neat and tidy, comfy bed and great shower pressure! Our first day when we left the sign out to make up the room, they only replaced one teabag and left a dirty spoon. Given there was two of us you’d think they’d make sure we could have a cup of tea each and replace what we had used.

Breakfast is good with selection off the menu of juice, tea/coffee, cereals and hot food. Note, only served between 9-9.30am.

Location is great with views and easy walk to the beach and along the cliff tops. Definitely try the coastal path as it is stunning.

My partner and I spent four nights here and wished it could have been longer. It was the most incredible thing to lie in bed in the morning and look at the sea...

The room was clean and comfortable. Unlike so many other places that suggest that you hang your towels up to save water and then change them for you regardless, the Sloop is actually committed to reducing water usage and let us use the same towels for the duration of our stay.

Breakfast was tasty and cheerful, and the room had a cafetière and real coffee so I could have an early cup.

We also ate dinner here one night and the restaurant is excellent -- best scallops I have eaten in years, and the crème brulee is also superb.

This place is definitely on the short list of places for our next holiday...
