“Everything was spot on.”
Reviewed 2 May 2012

Stayed here for three nights. This hotel is very, very good. They pay attention to detail, all those little details that often get missed and I feel a bit churlish complaining about, but do make the difference.
Newspapers delivered to door. Drinking water in room. Beds turned down. Maps and island parking vouchers available. Attentive staff at reception and door. Management ever present. Bill at end all correct AND not overpriced. Even the Longueville blend tea tasted very good.
I often don't do breakfasts, so I'm not an expert, but the breakfast here is the best anywhere I've been (including Four Seasons or Savoy). Try the yoghurts.
If you stay for dinner (and you should) the tasting menu was lovely and not too much to eat (provided you don't eat too much shortbread that came with the aforementioned tea in the afternoon).
This hotel is just very, very good.

Our recent weekend break at Longueville was an example of how hotels should be run. The service was tremendously good, attentive but not obtrusive, and nothing was too much trouble. The room was excellent and my wife liked the decor so much that she asked for, and was sent, the details of the wallpaper. The food and wine were also excellent and reasonable value for the quality. The only thing that could have been improved was the water pressure in the shower.

All in all, we cannot recommend this hotel and its staff more strongly.

Although it is almost a year since our stay I thought I would still submit the review.

Being our third stay at Longueville Manor obviously speaks volumes of our love for the hotel. The food couldn't be improved upon and the staff go a long way to making you feel special. However our room which was at the front of the hotel was clearly "a smokers room" with the "aroma" being masked with air fresheners. Being a warm day on our arrival we opened the french doors to freshen the air in the room. With the room being at the front of the hotel it was also fairly noisy. Being such a light sleeper, I expressed my concerns at reception regarding this and also the smell of smoke in the room. I was told that the traffic noise shouldnt really be a disturbance and that yes they did have rooms that were "smokers".

After a fairly sleepness night, I returned to reception and asked if we could be moved to a quieter room for our second nights stay. We were allocated a room on the first floor but was advised that although it was a quieter room, being at the back of the hotel, there would be a small amount of noise from other guests walking along the corridor. The room had a lovely view looking out on to the gardens at the rear of the hotel. On our two previous stays at Longueville, our rooms had always been at the rear of the hotel but in a different part and we had been extremely happy with them.

After another amazing dinner we headed off to our room for a restful nights sleep. Very early in the morning we were disturbed a little by a door which appeared to be in constant use either next to our room or a few doors down and assumed other guests had an early start. We could also hear laughing and talking from downstairs, which transpired to be the Reception Desk. Whilst trying in vain to block out this noise, we tried to sleep a little longer - we were on holiday ater all. However at 7am we were awoken to the sound of hoovering on the stairs! I simply could not believe what I was hearing so got up and looked out of the door and a cleaner was carrying the hoover downstairs and began hoovering once more. We have been fortunate enough to travel all over the world but have never encountered this before! I restrained myself from going downstairs to the Reception Desk here and then in my nightie to express may dismay but decided to deal with this in a calm manner after showering.

The response I received from the Reception Desk was unbelievable - I was simply told that the hoovering needed to be done at some point to which I replied surely not at 7am! I was speechless. The Receptionist was in no way apologetic and I was made to feel I was making a fuss.

What we also noticed later that morning was the room on the landing near our room appeared to be in constant use by staff which explained the early morning noise. Perhaps it is used as an "office" or for "storage".

We were so upset and torn whether to return to our lovely Lougueville Manor - whose wonderful hospitality we had experienced in the past, we had passed on to all our friends and family. It had been such a special place for us and we didnt want it to change.

When checking out we once again expressed our concerns about our unrequested "early morning alarm call" to the Receptionist. The Owner was also at the Reception Desk at this time, but no apology was offered from any party.

We wondered if it was time to call it a day at this heavenly hotel, but are still strongly drawn to return which goes some way to show that despite the problems we encountered during our last stay, it really is a truly unique place.

We stayed for three nights (buy two get one free, through Expedia) to celebrate my wife's birthday. Asked for a ground floor deluxe room, at the back of the hotel, which was excellent - although it is a little odd to have to go outside briefly in order to get into the main hotel. Food was very good. We tried the Discovery Menu one night, which was expensive but worth it. Couple of minor gripes - the maid didn't clear away the tea tray on one morning and the sommelier wasn't eager to top up wine glasses when we had the Discovery Menu (wine is included) - but still merits a 5 star review.

If you visit Jersey, take time to walk some of the north coast path - fantastic views - and also the War Tunnels are very good.

Somehow, by the magic of young Mr. Bento ( he looks younger every time we see him), we managed to secure the Tower Suite where we have stayed twice before for my wife's birthday in March.
Since we were last at Longueville a couple of years ago there have been some big changes.
The suite has been comprehensively re-vamped. It used to be the epitome of elegance and quality with a faintly olde-worlde look matched with a bit of new technology thrown in as a bonus..LCD TV, CD player DVD etc.
In the true spirit of re-invention, the powers that be at Longueville have decided to have another stab at improving what was close to perfection and, dear reader, the result is..........breathtaking!
All the free standing TVs have been replaced with wall mounted ones, beautifully placed. The living area is now opulently comfortable and chic, complemented with beautiful touches of sympathetically matched ultra- modernity. Bye bye separate DVD player in the lounge area... come in pod docking station. Bye bye discreet chintzy standard lamp, welcome stylish lighthouse- lensed corner lighting.
Goodbye king size bed, and welcome to acres of sumptious bed area... god alone knows what size it is, but it would have been just as easy to call the wife on the mobile than to turn over several times to meet up!
I can't remember what the old bathroom was like.... who cares?! This new one is just sublime from the multi function, multi water coloured shower head the size of a family pizza to the adjacent TV sunk into the wall or the double size bath and beautifully perfumed shower gel/ shampoo etc.
Look, I know the title was a bit of a tease but this place is just " to die for". This is the only 5 star hotel on the island and, boy, does it show!
The staff are efficiency personified and the genuine warm welcome is a delight. Nothing is too much trouble and the youthful serving staff are trained to the highest standards before being let loose on the public.
The food is sublime and, in this haven of tranquillity it's a nice touch that one can still just hear the strains of the chefs urging the staff and each other to ever greater heights.
The breakfast is simply beyond compare! What do you fancy? A celebratory glass of champagne with your smoked salmon and/or or freshly scrambled eggs? No problem! A wee dram of scotch on your porridge, local cream and demerara sugar? Done!
No write-up would be complete without an honorary mention for " head of house" Pedro Bento who is simply a gem.
The nearest you will find in terms of quality on the island is likely to be the 4* Atlantic at la Moye... different style entirely and very nice ... but.... given the choice, there is no choice. Longueville Manor every time!
