Do book ahead, as by 1.30, the Restaurant was packed. JASMIN was our lovely waitress and altho' run off her feet, still took time to talk... We chose the €23 two-course lunch, altho' a little surprised with the €8 supplement for the duck and €3 supplement for crab.
The food was superb- LARRY the chef is a marvel... the chowder was the best we've ever tasted and the crab very tasty. What can we say about the duck? PERFECT! Glad we had only two courses, as the portions were large.
We have been to the main restaurant in Marlfied House and feel The Duck Restaurant is far superior for the food, both for value and portion-size. Staff here are friendlier also. Well worth the cost for a special occasion. The daffodils were out in the garden and I'm sure the Summer brings a lot more colour to it.
One small observation....It would be nice if a special occasion (such as ours) was marked with even a small cake and would have been a welcome gesture.
