Very traditional surroundings, but immaculate.(I am very much a'Wooden/tiled floor 'person but loved this.)This is one of those ideal venues that I really don't want to share with others, because that means it might get so busy I can't get a booking. A One thing I am beginning to realise from my recent stay in Ivyleigh House, is that you come away from your stay much better rested than from a big hotel, probably because navigating the space in a large crowded hotel is 'challenging' to say the least. The hosts have everything spot on, giving a very close attention to detail and creature comforts for the guests but never being intrusuve.Food wonderful, room clean and cosy, round the corner from restauants and shops, but nicely tucked away with private parking.Would definitely recommend this for a weekend break.Have a meal in the "Forty" restaurant round the corner and potter about Portlaoise, maybe into one of the many bars with live music.Check the architecture in the new Catholic churc-- fabulous use of planes..Very relaxing.Excellent.More
