“Perfect place for a large gathering”
Reviewed 3 June 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Several pubs and two grocery stores were within walking distance. The layout of the house allowed nine adults plus an infant so sleep soundly. We had a dinner party for seventeen which worked perfectly at the Chateaux!

“Quirky project”

First impressions were not great, although we did arrive too early after traveling overnight ferry from Yorkshire via Liverpool. Rhonan is a friendly and softly spoken man who has tackled this project over time without expert input, l assume. There are a number of issues that require fairly urgent attention which I will email details of to Rhonan. I am sure he won't take offence and will make en effort to carry out the remadial work in due course. This property wouldn't suit everyone, but you will get used to the quirkiness and enjoy what there is on offer on the property and in the location, our group of five spent a week here and had a happy time exploring the area. Take a beach road and take a walk along the shore. You will be alone unless like us you meet a fisherman cleaning the mussels he collected at low tide.

We absolutely loved this place!
We were a group of 7, 5 of them teenagers. The house had lots of room and the scenery was magical.
This is a place for the "back door" style of traveling. Meaning, we rented a van, drove from Dublin to Kinvara, settled our luggage and went to the Londis down the road for groceries. We were able to eat in as the house had items we could use for making meals. Helpful were the washing machine and dryer.
The home is eclectic---meaning the owner, Ronan, works on the house in various forms of ongoing Art projects. The garden was fabulous, complete with a couple turtles in the fish pond. There is also a sweet cow next door who was fun to watch. Beautiful fruit trees and a view of the Burren mountains coming in and out of cloudy views.
The location was great, near Dunguaire Castle, Kinvara Quay, pubs, restaurants, grocery stores, beaches, the Burren and the Cliffs. I drove the Wild Atlantic Way by myself one morning while the teenagers slept in! I discovered Fanore Beach, an organic chocolate farm and beautiful wild scenery.
One surprise was the Friday Farmers Market in Kinvara. Fantastic! We bought fresh oysters, cheese, bread, coffee, local produce, all the while an Irish Music quartet playing. That was one of the best dinners we had!
This is a location for the quiet, slow-paced traveler who wants to experience local Ireland and it's great people.
We will definitely be back.

We stayed here recently and really enjoyed it. The garden was gorgeous and enclosed which was great for my son and the dog. The house is within comfortable walking distance to the village and has everything that you would need. Thank you Ronan.

“Wonderful home for family visit”

Our family of 7 spent a week in Ronan's cottage in June. It was a great place for us. The three couples had their own bedroom and bath and the baby had her own room! The living room, kitchen, and large garden were lovely places to hang out in. We had wanted a place we could walk to town from and this cottage was about a 15 minute walk. Ronan was immediately responsive to any of our needs including finding a crib and high chair for our grand daughter in advance of our arrival. The place is charming and definitely has a whimsical and artsy feel to it!

Kinvara is a wonderful town with lots of places to hear good music and being on the Wild Atlantic Way (near Galway, etc.) was great.

We also took advantage of the on-site washer and dryer (though manly used the outdoors to dry stuff) which with a baby was incredibly helpful.

As other reviewers have said, the Chateaux is a work in progress! Some projects around the cottage aren't quite completed so if you want a place that's all polished this might not be the place for you.

We cooked most of our meals there and needed a few more kitchen items than Ronan originally had (and it would have been nice to have some basic spices like salt and pepper) - but again, he was very responsive when we asked for things.
