Fiddlers Grove is one of the highlights to see each year during the Wilson County Fair. From my understanding you can schedule visits at other times during the year.
This last Christmas when they have the whole fairgrounds decorated in thousands and thousands of lights it is a treat for the family. Then to also see Santa and Ms. Claus during the middle of the drive thru puts a smile on the face of the little ones like my 4 year old. We went twice this year and so much of Fiddlers Grove is lit up with the Christmas lights.
If you visit Fiddlers Grove during the fair or at other times by scheduling a visit you will see the old time ways of I guess the late 1800s by seeing the bank, post office, jail, old time school house, old time church, several log cabins, the mill where during the fair they mill cornmeal and grits and there is so much more to view during the era. Also during the fair at Fiddlers Grove watch a horse churn homemade Ice Cream.
Step forth a few decades later, you see the bakery, radio station of WANT, the hospital, mortuary, old time service station and much, much, more. I wish all young people could see this and appreciate how things were a long time ago.
We drove through for the Christmas display. The whole display was really nice and well organized. Great experience
This is a beautiful park inside the Wilson county fairgrounds. Parking and entry is free. Lots of original structures from around the county, a tiny post office, grocery store, cabins and a church. There are about 60 structures. Kids love it. Most of the buildings are always open and you can look in and see the items people would have used 100 years ago from printing presses to a working grist mill. There are large clean bathrooms, paved trails and picnic areas. You need to being food and drink.
It was our first time to visit Fiddlers Grove and it is lovely! We enjoyed the Vintage Market Days that they had today and the staff we spoke to in the general store was most helpful. Definitely we will be back
We love walking through Fiddlers Grove. It is full of history. The kids enjoy seeing how things worked and ran in the past.
A great tour of historical artifacts and places. Museums, churches, Old country store and blacksmith shop broom factory bringing back history.
