Well written and very well acted. The dialog seems true. Not for the very young. The play concerns classmates, family and school staff dealing with the sudden and unexpected death of a high school student. Just the right amount of humor so that you don't feel emotionally wrought by the subject matter, without diminishing what has happened. It does have some strong language and is not a light subject. As always, the stage design is amazing. What they are able to do in the small space (this is in the small lab theater) is impressive. The play keeps your attention. A little under 2 hours without an intermission.

Yesterday afternoon with my wife an friends we saw The Alabama Story. I can not put into words how wonderful this play was. The staging with an area that moved gave a sense of time marching on. As is typical of Clarence Brown theatre the staging overall was fantastic. The actors were all excellent and the after show discussion with the actors only added to what was a wonderful theatre experience.

We visited CBT to see A Christmas Carol and it did not disappoint. The actors are professional and the set was fabulous! We love the ambiance of the theater and are going to see Alabama Story. It is a wonderful place to take a date or family (maybe no very young children, as they might not enjoy).

We love live theatre and this was our first visit to the Clarence Brown Theatre at the University of Tennessee. We had first row tickets for A Christmas Carol - the last performance of the season on Dec. 17, 2017. Mr. Dickens wrote a lovely story and the cast played it beautifully. I really enjoyed hearing all the traditional Christmas carols presented in the traditional way, a cappella. The sound was wonderful and the story was magical. The sets were great and the costumes (especially the ghosts) were resplendent. The late director, Clarence Brown, would be proud.

Once again, the Clarence Brown Theater has put on a fantastic performance with A Christmas Carol. Great performers, costumes and set. Honestly, just a top notch production. If you haven't been to the Clarence Brown Theater, you're missing out.
