We parked in a free parking area by the Museum of Art and Fort Kids playground. The sphere was within walking distance and we saw the whole city in a few minutes for free!

Located at Knoxville World's Fair Park. The Sphere is the focal point of the Park. My wife and I took the elevator to the observation area in the Sphere. Once there you have a 350 degree view, as you walk around the inside of the sphere. Also, there are historic markers that provide information as to what you are viewing in the distance and some history of the Sunsphere itself. For us, it was worth a one time visit.

The Sunsphere Tower gives visitors a great 360 degree view of Knoxville. You can see all of downtown as well as the University of Tennessee in the distance.

Parking is not available at the Tower, but there is free parking at the nearby Museum of Art where you could park, enjoy the museum and visit the Sunsphere Tower all at the same time.

Admission is free, and an elevator takes you to the enclosed observation deck. There are a number of placards explaining about it being built for the 1982 World's Fair, but we would have liked for there to have been more. A nice addition would be placards around the observation deck labeling what you are viewing in each quadrant.

We went up to deck twice including a Sunday a.m. Good 360 view of downtown and beyond. Free, good elevators, nice plaza including convention center with public restrooms and charging stations. Parking garages and meters about 2 blocks away.

It was a beautiful Spring day when I rode the elevator to the top of this curious landmark, and the view of the city and the surrounding hills was lovely. A visit is recommended if you are in the area. Free!Q
