This is a typically decent Fairfield Inn. But that is not what I want to write about.
We were stuck in their elevator for about 25 minutes when a storm knocked out the power. We rang the bell and someone assured us that the maintenance person would be there soon. He was and got us out efficiently once he arrived. Two things struck me as strange - the emergency phone in the elevator did not work without power. What good is an emergency phone if it does not work in an emergency? There was no backup generator to deal with such issues.
At the same time - credit where it is due: the morning desk staff person gave me a discount on the room as well as some additional points due to our inconvenience despite the fact that the power outage was not the fault of the hotel. Kudos to her for doing this!More
