This local shop sells the usual ice cream/desserts that you typically find at say, Dairy Queen. The prices are all really fair and they have a good grill menu too. Friendly staff- many have worked there for years. If you are stopping through the oldest town in Tennessee and want a delicious treat at a low price, I would recommend this quaint little ice cream shop!

Once a Dairy Queen, this locally owned Dairy Bar is great for burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, etc. Very friendly folks and good food at great prices!

This is one of those been-there-forever local places. The prices are good, the food is just okay. Definitely not the cleanest place I ever ate in terms of prep areas and dining areas. And the bathrooms were really in need of updating and some bleach. No paper towels and no hand soap...not very sanitary.
We came in for dessert and coffee. Both were mediocre.

We get ice cream at Old Town Dairy Bar frequently but we only recently had dinner from there so I am reviewing based on the dinner experience. First thing you need to know is that when I was a child, this place was a Dairy Queen and when it stopped using the brand it kept the basic menu. Over the years it has added things to menu but never really taken anything off. There are lots of hidden things they make that aren't even on the board. You will see them written on little card board announcements in the dining room. We had their biggest burger. It was juicy and hot. The bun was well toasted and the lettuce, tomato, etc was fresh and good. This is a pre-made burger patty and it tastes just like school hamburgers did at my high school. It was delicious and satisfying. Their fries are thick crinkle cut fries with a seasoned salt on them. They were fantastic and come in a generous serving. They have this caramel fudge nut sundae desert that is just decadent. It is a huge amount of ice cream, chocolate fudge sauce, caramel sauce, and nuts. They don't skip on the sauces. It is incredibly rich. I never can finish it. My husband had a dipped waffle cone. They give you huge ice cream cones. Dip is just a few cents extra on the cake cones, but they give it free with the waffle cones. This is a small town hang out spot for Jonesborough so it can get get pretty busy at times but it is worth it. They do play religious music inside and that isn't for everyone. The decor and bathrooms are dated and a bit run down and often sticky, but the food and treats are worth it and the prices are good. I can also highly recommend their chocolate shakes, we often drive through and pick up one on the way home. They are thick with plenty of syrup in them.

Stopped on a Hot Dog Special night to eat a Hot Dog, Fries, & Sundae. All was really good, except our teenage son wanted something else and they wouldn't take his order in his 16th Birthday. He was still hungry & you lost a sale from a hungry teenager who is 6 foot 3, 280 lbs of football power....He was hungry when we left. Went to another place to fill his hollow leg....LOL
