My husband, in-laws and I had the pleasure of staying at Stone Fort Inn for two nights. We found the hotel from searching tripadvisor, and originally booked it for one night. We were so blowned away by the hotel and the staff, that we stayed another night in Chattanooga - all because of Stone Fort Inn. This is truly a hidden gem in the jungle of places to stay. The rooms are spacious (we stayed in the exclusive balcony room), beautiful decorated and the beds are extremely comfortable. You get the feeling of stepping into a mansion from bygone days when you get to Stone Fort Inn. It's elegant, historical, exclusive and with an atmosphere which is very rare.

The service we got is beyond any explanation - it's hard to describe how the staff and management treat their guest. It's just amazing! Home baked cookies free placed all over the place, a glass of wine when your wating for the taxi, a night cap when you get back from dinner - all for free. Every person of the staff and the management who were on duty during our stay, was phenomenal in the way they treated their guest. Way over what a 5 star resort ever can offer.

We hope to go back to Chattanooga someday. Not only because the city is very nice and the people there are frendly, but most of all to have the opportunity to another stay at Stone Fort Inn!

Room Tip: some rooms have balcony, which is very nice.

We were greeted at the door by James and given chocolate covered strawberries and a room upgrade without even requesting it! We were invited down for wine and cheese and given chocolate chip cookies. They really go out of their way to make your stay special! Breakfast was outstanding with a buffet each morning. The rooms there are very clean and nice each decorated a little different from the other. For a romantic getaway this is the place to go--you feel like your stepping back in history. We will definately go back again if we are in the area. Thanks again to James and his staff for an excellent stay!

My boyfriend and I came up here for two days from Georgia, just a little spur of the moment day trip...we arrived at the stonefort inn and were greeted by James, the inn keeper. He was AMAZING, completely unreal amd friendly beyond reason. He was most helpful especially when we needed.directions, he would explain and draw maps for us.the rooms are spectacular and very clean. Especially the ones with the hot tubs. Very nice. It has a pool table and library as well and even includes complimentary breakfast.and not cereal, a cook to order type. And cant forget the bar. The rest of the staff were friendly as ever too, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Of course there is also free cookies in the evening, haha..love it! We must say that we are most definitely coming back. Oh, and the city is very gay friendly and so is the inn and all staff, as we found out. Thanks again for making us Georgia boys feel welcome!

The food was the best thing about our stay. The building has a lot of character but some of the rooms could use a makeover. The mattress needed to be replaced in our room. The room could actually use a complete makeover. The upholstery on the furniture has seen better days. If you like daily maid service, you may not enjoy staying here. We stayed over a weekend and there was no housekeeping. I've stayed in several B&Bs and have always had the bed made and fresh linens each day. For the price we paid, average of $180 per night with taxes and fees, I expected a little more from the Stone Fort Inn.

I wanted to let this review response wait a while, just to let the past reviews and the new reviews speak for the Inn itself, the odd thing is that to say the food was the best part of the stay, which it
is a wonderful breakfast, and thank you, but the Inn and the staff here have so much to offer, if you were or are a reader of reviews, you would have seen in the past reviews that the inn is under an updating process, new furnishings, pictures, and yes, bed coverings, all renovated rooms look very nice, crisp amd clean, i'm sorry that you were unable to have stayed in an updated room, but, all our rooms untouched have so much to offer, nice comfy, Queen and King beds, Flat Screen tv's and Ihomes, with a spacious bath with a jetted tub and French shower.
The Inn would be more than happy to give it another try if you are.
Thank you for your response, James Greathouse, StoneFort inn, Inn keeper
