“The best place we have stayed!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2011

I would recommend anyone traveling to Rapid City/Black Hills, South Dakota to stay at the Black Forest Inn. Not only was it perfectly located to all the great things to see, but we were welcomed warmly and our room was super comfortable. We had a suite and my daughter slept on the pull out bed form the couch and she said it was as comfortable as any regular bed (no bar in the back!) The food was great every morning for breakfast (Thanks Isaac!) and the dinners at The Bistro on the Green were fabulous! We were so happy we stayed all five nights at the Black Forest Inn, and if we ever return to that area, we will be sure to stay there - I hope you do too!!!

When we arrived, we hunted down a staff member who did not know that we were coming and had to figure out which rooms we were in. When we told her we had a hard time finding it, she insulted us. It turned out that we got a room upgrade because the basement was out of commission. Yay for a room upgrade, but this also meant that the tv and pool table that they promised on their webpage was not available. The room my parents stayed in was very small and had no windows and was noisy because it opened into the dining area and only common space.
That said the food was good and it turns out the owner is really nice in a new york sort of way.
Probably won't go back, but would probably be a great place to have a really nice dinner in the hills.

Date of stay October 2009

Room was comfortable and had a large lounge area but was an inside room and had no natural light, that said we had a really pleasant stay and made to feel really welcome. An unexpected snow storm meant that power was lost one morning but after a slight delay Isaac managed to rustle up breakfast to his usual high standard.

Hot drinks were freely available. The Inn features log fires that add to the experience

Although a little bit out of the city, the setting and grounds of the Inn are beautiful and is handy for all the local attractions with the Badlands, Deadwood and the Crazy Horse monument a must. (we did try Mount Rushmore but fog meant we couldn’t actually see it!!)

As previously said there was a snow storm during one night but the roads were clear by 9 o’clock with driving no problems.

When we left the Inn we were made to feel like we were leaving long lost friends.

And the hills really are black!!!

Cindy and Issac do a fabulous job as hosts for this quaint Bed & Breakfast tucked in the Black Hills. It's easy to get to because it's right off hwy 385. The set-up is perfect - rooms are large with all the accomodations, clean, quiet and peaceful for a rejuvenating weekend. Most times we just stay there for dinner when we arrive. We've always had an excellent meal with wonderful wine...of course breakfast is very good too! My husband and I have stayed at many B&B's in this area, and this is our favorite!
