The Hampton House is a historical delight. The house is architecturally beautiful and the bedrooms could be in a magazine (they were). The grounds were charming and the pool offered a welcome break after a long drive. The breakfast was homemade and delicious, especially the banana bread. If I lived in town, I would want to be friends with the charming hosts Diane and Henry. We will make a point of getting back here again!

Room Tip: The balcony room is perfect for sitting and enjoying a glass of wine while looking at the garden.

What good things CAN'T I say about this place?! The owners are SO kind and generous. They had a plate of peanut butter cookies waiting for us right next to our room! Very cool that they have a mini fridge that you can use to store anything in, but it's also shared if anyone else is staying in the other two rooms, so keep that in mind as far as space goes. The owners don't overwhelm you when you come in or are staying and make sure to give you your space. Since no one else was actually staying there the nights we were, we got to look around the other two rooms and see what they're like. If you want your own private, beautiful balcony, the slightly more expensive Camellia Room is the way to go! (I personally wouldn't like that room due to the clawfoot tub with only the handheld shower hose the rinse off with, I prefer to have a fixed one on the wall/ceiling) Also great is that we needed somewhere to stay with our two dogs at, and they allow them in one of their three rooms for just $25 extra a night. We stayed in the Azalea room (the only one that allows dogs) and is was super quaint! Nice fireplace in the room, spacious windows, bathroom with separate toilet and shower/tub combination. The ground are beautiful with a lovely terrace/back garden, swimming pool (which was not ready yet, I guess we were still too early for that) and a (somewhat beaten down) tennis court that probably doesn't get much use. Walking distance to downtown Walterboro which was great as we were selling Quinndles at the Rice Festival this year! Diane, the owner, also collects old/antique dolls houses and barbies, and gave us a free tour of the room she displays them in before we left--very interesting pieces and history there! One of the rooms she actually uses as an art studio for her paintings and whatnot, and showed us that as well--she is super talented! For a smaller town, Walterboro surprisingly has great restaurants and things to do and shops to visit as well.

Cons: 1) Good, but not Great breakfasts. First morning we got omelets, bacon, yogurt, mini muffins, coffee and orange juice. Second morning we got VERY egg-y French toast, mini muffins, sausage, yogurt, coffee and orange juice. None of it was BAD, just not a large selection or large portions. 2) Minor annoyances to the guest room- what may not be minor to some but were somewhat more major to me: No extra toilet paper besides the one on the roll, quite dusty in the room on cabinets, mantles, etc., Took Forever to get hot water through the sink and shower....like, many, many minutes! I get it's an old house, but still.

Room Tip: Azalea room is the only one that allows dogs.

Had an absolutely lovely time at this amazing B and B. Hosts Diane and Henry delightful and most interesting. Breakfast delicious. Home and grounds give you a sense of the beauty of what plantation living must have been like in the early 1900s.

The whole house is full of beautiful antiques, look like pre 1950's. Diane, the owner, has wonderful taste in decorating the house with 3 bedrooms to rent. She also has one whole room for her collection of doll houses. The place was clean, the bed comfortable, and breakfast was good. It's located on a corner lot in town but seems very private due to an outside wall and shrubbery. Shopping on a revitalized street with two very good places to have dinner. They do not take credit cards, they do not have a web site. You must call (1 843 542 9498) for a reservation and mail a check

Room Tip: One room has a porch but the bath is a tub with a flexible shower attachment. The other rooms have a shower. all rooms are queen size beds.

This is a Bed & Breakfast with three bedrooms for rent. The building and furnishing are just beautiful. The building is packed full of antiques and interesting art objects. It's sort of like staying in a museum. Diane, the lady who runs it, had peanut butter cookies prepared for us when we arrived and had sherry available in the evening. One room in the house has been converted to an antique doll house museum which we found very interesting. There is a pool and plenty of chairs so you can sit out in the evening. The cost is about the same as a motel would be and the breakfast was excellent.
