BEDBUGS

We have been staying at this hotel for 20 years each summer even before it was a Baymont Inn when it was a Best Western. We never had a complaint until it was purchased by the Patel family and turned into a Baymont. While most stays were pleasant, we found the last few years the hotel went down hill. We always travel with our immaculately-groomed pure bred German Shepherd show dog and the hotel was usually a decent place to spend the night. We had a problem wiith a horrible smell coming from the room we usually stay in this last trip and asked to be switched to another room. After being swtiched and climbing into bed I began to itch. I thought it may have been an allergic reaction to the detergent used on the sheets but in the morning I had a bite-like rash on my legs. Began inspecting the bed and found bedbugs. I put one in a cup and my wife took it to the front desk. The woman immediately became angry and denied having bedbugs and blamed it on our dog. Dogs cannot and do not get bedbugs. That an inkeeper is unable to identify a bedbug is troubling. She denied that the bug was a bedbug because the mattress was "brand new." It doesn't matter how new a mattress is, if the hotel doesn't treat it properly you can't get rid of bedbugs and since she said it wasn't bedbugs one can surmise it was never treated for bedbugs. The woman at the desk became irate with my wife and dismissed her with a wave of her hand saying, "I don't want to deal with you" in front of other customers (of who we got their names and addresses ... one said there was a spider in her bed and the other said there was a horrible smell coming from her carpet). Several other customers asked to switch rooms this same evening.

BEDBUG CHECK

If you stay at this motel, the first thing you should do is lift up the mattress and look between the box spring and the matress. All those stains, specks, spots and pieces are from bedbugs. After reporting this to the Health Department I received a nasty retaliatory email from the motel signed "Punam Patel" who said that my indoor show dog was responsible for the problem and asking us not to stay there again. That an inkeeper would act like this toward customers (and deny the presence of bedbugs even when one was presented in a cup) who stayed there for more than 20 summers in a row is unthinkable. Needless to say we had already made up our mind of our own accord that we will NEVER again stay at this motel.

The Baymont Inn and Suites of Rock Hill, SC prides itself on being one of the nicest hotels in the Rock Hill area. It was remodeled two and a half years ago from the Best Western. The remodel included new carpets throughout the hotel, new wall paper throughout, new light fixtures, new furniture in the rooms with new lamps and pictures, new draperies, valance and sheer in the rooms, new refrigerator, microwave, new 32” LCD TV’s, new AC units in rooms, new bedding which included new box springs, mattresses, pillows, sheets, pillow cases and bed covers. Also, a new business center was installed in the main lobby, a new fitness center was built and a new breakfast room which provides free full hot breakfast was installed. A new meeting room which can hold up to fifty people was installed. A new phone system with voicemail capability was installed, the pool and pool area was remodeled, a free guest laundry was installed as well. The project cost half a million dollars for the renovation. With this renovation, the Baymont Inn and Suites is easily one of the cleanest and most modern hotels in the Rock Hill and Charlotte area. As ongoing maintenance, the hotel employs three full time maintenance personnel, housekeeping and utilizes monthly pest control.
In July of this year, 2010, the Baymont had a returning guest who complained about her room. She returned with her dog, a large German Shepherd, and stayed in mini suite 103. She complained about a bad odor in the first suite she was given so the hotel gave her a different suite, suite 101, and a discount on the room for the one night of her stay. The guest then complained to the Wyndham franchise and was refunded the cost of her room. The Baymont Inn and Suites always strives to accommodate their guests. The suites are rented regularly and have had no previous complaints from other guests.

This is a very good hotel with a very fun pool. I had nothing to complain about. Everything in the room worked It was very satisfactory.

Stayed there on 6/17 and again on 6/24. Loved the room. Clean, good beds, clean bathroom. Ground floor because my wife is handicapped. Loved the sliding door for easy loading/unloading. Great pool. Never had a problem. Good breakfast. Will stay here again next year. Decent neighborhood, Golden Corral right down the street. Hotel not hard to find.

We just left this hotel after a very comfortable night. The room had everything you need, the bed was comfortable, the staff was very helpful, and the price was great. Our AAA rate ($65) was $30 less than the surrounding hotels. The neighborhood near by seemed to be of a slight concern but we felt safe. Full breakfast with hot waffles, eggs, sausage and all the other items you would want was included in our rate. Good pick!

We stayed on Christmas Eve. The motel was very quiet. The staff were friendly. The rooms were clean. We asked to purchase an old towel to use as a rag for our car. The front desk found one for us - no charge. We had not expected to stay in a motel on Christmas Eve but were glad that we found this one. We will stay again.
