We had a guys dinner tonight and wanted an upscale experience . . . so we chose Bistro 217. We chose to sit outside, which is covered and made very comfortable. The outside seating has a more laid back vibe and social bar while the inside provides a more quiet business casual vibe with its own bar. We were luck to be seated in Rebecca’s section . . . Ask for her if you can. Great service and very personable. After dinner, the owner came by to make sure everything was perfect. I started with an Old Fashioned. There were 3 Rye Whiskey selections to choose from. The cocktail was perfect. A selection of house made breads came quickly. The other guys chose the Filet and the Scallops. We were provided a choice of 3 specials. I chose one of the specials, which was a cornmeal crusted Mahi with butternut squash and andouille risotto finished with parmesan and a beurre blanc sauce topped with a micro salad. I left the plate clean! There is a separate dessert menu with everything made in house including an Elvis Special. Yes, Elvis was in the house (he is the sous chef, Elvis Xhani). I had a flight of home made creams including chocolate cayenne, pistachio and coffee which chosen from a total of eight flavors. We finished with coffee. Go on Fridays - one of the bartenders serves as entertainment in the outdoor section with great guitar covers of easy listening tunes to eat, drink and socialize too. The sound level was perfect and did not interfere with conversation. If your near Pawleys Island or even a little north, bypass Murrell’s Inlet and come a little further . . . You will not be disappointed.
