“Decent place to stay as long as you're not on a low floor”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

Stayed at the Avista Resort for a couple of nights over spring break. Check in was fairly easy. We were initially given a room on the first floor (right over the parking area where people load/unload). The room was nice enough. However, I was jolted awake various times through out the night as people would lock their cars (when their horns would beep) when coming to check in. The next morning, we went to the front desk to see if we could get a different room on a higher floor. The woman at the front desk was very nice and was able to accommodate our request. However, the room was not ready yet. She told us to go ahead to breakfast, and if we were ok with it, she would have the bellman move our things. When we came back from breakfast, the check in line was very long. She went ahead and motioned for us to come up front, she gave us our new room key, and had informed us all our things had been moved. Great customer service! I would definitely stay here again, just not on a low floor.

Room Tip: If staying here, I would not stay on the first floor over the garage. Request a high floor.

we came there for our honeymoon, we had a terrible experience!! The room was way over priced for the quality (we asked for non smoking, you could smell the smoke, the remotes did not work, the sofa was out dated and very uncomfortable, the beds and pillows were uncomfortable). The phones rang off the hook the whole time we were there. We were there to relax i work an 80 hr work week normally this also was my first vacation and my wife works hard and it took alot for us to save for this trip. The room for 3 nights was $100 for a 1 bedroom. We were very dissatisfied. And durring our stay at 9pm on one of the nights we were there they decided to bring a new couch and chair into our room, interrupting our time together for 30 minutes. I would not reccommend your hotel to anyone. It was a true nightmare! We could not even enjoy our stay because you all were so disruptive! Your staff that we met even agreed that this is how you all act normally.

Room Tip: We had a Ocean front room, the view was beautiful.

We certainly want to apologize for your not being completely happy with your stay. I know getting a smoking room when you wanted a non-smoking is not the best situation. Unfortunately there were no non-smoking condos of the room type you requested when you booked and apparently this fact was not made clear enough for you. We also see that you were not happy with the sofa and according to our notes a message was left on your phone that we were bringing you a new one but I agree 9:00pm to too late and they should not have done the swap unless you were happy with them doing so. Again, please accept my apologies because we should not have been up to your room unless you want us there to assist you. We do try very hard to make our guests happy and I do feel bad that especially on such a special occasion, we were not able to give you the enjoyment you expected but we do hope you will give us another chance to give you the vacation you deserve.

Spent 8 nights at the Avista resort. Resort is located in North Myrtle Beach. Away from the hustle of the main strip. About a 45 min drive from the airport. Within a 20 min walk to the strip for shopping and dining. Hotel is set up as condo living. Fulling stocked units with washer/dryer combo. Took awhile to figure out how to use the machine. Once got the hang of it, takes a long time to do one load of laundry (wash and dry = 2hrs. Can use the coin operated machines located in the building if doing multiple loads. Towels provided for pool/beach use. Restaurant and beach grill were clean and the food pretty good. Front desk staff friendly and very helpful. Would recommend this hotel.

We just returned from a week-end at the Avista in North Myrtle Beach. We have stayed there several times (business/pleasure) and have not been disappointed. This isn't a hotel like a Hilton, etc. These are condos owned by individuals and are managed by the Avista organization. We were on the 15th floor this time and ocean front. It was overcast and rain this week-end so I enjoyed my balcony and listening to a disc jockey playing music below at the pool. The staff is very friendly and helpful as is housekeeping. Rooms were very clean with a fully equipped kitchen area. Can cook if you are inclined. Our room had a missing light bulb and the remote for the living room TV did not work. Maintenance was sent up immediately and took care of those only two issues. There is a TV in the bedroom as well. They have WIFI so all I did was plug in my computer and switch over to their system...didn't need the cable. The food is not great in their restaurant....but with all the wonderful restaurants in Myrtle and North Myrtle....I prefer to go out to eat. They have a huge parking garage so there are no shortage of parking spaces. Lastly, I didn't notice any unpleasant odors through the hallways and elevators like there is in many beach hotels. Comfortable and clean with a great view of the ocean. It's a keeper for us!

Room Tip: We liked Room 1524 this trip but I did like the furnishings better in the room we stayed in last yea...
