Place just flat out nasty ,needs alot of work, you won't know until you open that door and bam the nightmare begins ,you absolutely cannot walk on that carpet without shoes and we was charged $214 per night i could say alooottttt more....just nasty / awful
If you like fruit flies, roaches in the bathroom, no linen service, bad attitudes, horrible customer service... then stay here. Lol . The staff got in an argument with about balconies and patios definition. They wanted to put me in a dark patio room. We booked on Priceline a Balcony with 2 queen beds. The audacity of it all. We were stuck. We kept our cool. If you are from the city you can manage.The only great thing is the view from the balcony. The elevator is a death trap. The elevator creeks, grinds , and gargles. I took the stairs after it wouldn't open to my floor. There is a Dollar General 7 min walk from tge hotel. You can buy bug spray and room spray. You can buy toilet paper and linens. One other good thing was the mini refrigerator. The City of Myrtle Beach should investigate. You have to come with bug spray, linens , and patience to stay here. Beware of hidden fees. Buyer beware.
Bar Harbor was so disgusting. Where to start: (photos attached)
1) Black mold under the sink
2) Bathroom door kicked in
3) Bathroom door would not close shut
4) Bathroom vent dirty
5) Unknown hair wrapped around lamp cord at head of bed
6) Refrigerator dented in
7) Rust on all lamp bases
8) Lamp outlets not operational
9) Closet wire rack shelf filthy with dirt and webs
10) No hooks to hang wet towels to dry
11) No hairdryer
12) Center of elevator floor was soft and bubbly
13) Elevator certificate showed last inspection was 12/30/2019
14) The underground parking was blocked off do to piles of garbage
15) Piles of garbage piling up on the upper parking spots.
I was concerned at first due to many negative reviews....however, the GM addressed my concerns over the phone and I stuck with my reservation there. My girlfriend and I spent 4 nights at Bar Harbor and we were well pleased overall. The hotel is older and some features are dated, but the staff cares and keeps it clean. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable. The view was awesome, right on the beach! So, there is no day-to-day maid service—big deal. We swapped towels at the desk once during our visit and the staff was friendly. I think it's a great place to stay for the price, especially if you want a hotel on the ocean, and are minding your budget. If you want resort service, you'll need to go elsewhere and pay significantly more—but we had no complaints.
We left a day early.
We have stayed here a few times. (Last in 2022 after the hurricane hit)
This time was different.
My Sister has Stage 4 cancer, diagnosed last year (and we canceled last year)... I was assured the room would be clean.
We walked in to a filthy mess!
Smoke odors and the bathroom hadn't been touched.
I carried cleaning and sanitation chemicals, always when traveling with her.
I stepped out of the shower the first night on to a towel.
It turned Black!
So, I used another towel and cleaned the bathroom myself.
I took the towels to the front desk and showed her.
Her response was "You realize people use these on their body?"
I was livid!!! I don't give a corn dog hell about "other " people.
Then today, I went and asked for the umbrella to be put pack. (They took them in because it stormed)
I told her I could put it up.. they were in the office.
She told me that she would call to have them put up.
45 minutes later, I went and sought out a Gentleman.. he said he never got a call but, he did put them out.
I know you don't care. Because some poor soul will still book and stay on a discussing room.
My Sisters bucket list.. was a nightmare!
And the homeless squatting in the stairwells.
And be lied to by your very rude employee..
She told me they were waiting on their room.
