When booking this trip we were told that there would be construction taking place in one section of the resort but they hoped construction would be done by the end of March. We went the last week of March and the construction was nowhere near completed. Of course we we placed in the construction zone and woke up to the sound of chainsaws and hammers most mornings. On top of this they closed the oceanfront pool as well which was "unexpected construction". The huge resort was left with sharing a tiny pool the size of a typical motel pool. We have two children and booked this resort specifically because of the wide variety of pool options to go along with being oceanfront. Our refridge/freezer was broken as well but they did replace it and the inside accomodations were actually very spacious and clean.

The Barony Beach staff did NOTHING to make things right with us. We were stunned by the lack of interest in making our experience a good one. Don't waste you hard earned money to go to a resort that is rebuilding most of their facilities and should not even be open or should be giving a discounted rate.

Room Tip: Attempt to get a clean uderstanding of where they are in the construction process and what will be c...

We stayed here March 2012. it was great, very large rooms with ample supplies in the kitchen and a tv in each bedroom and living area.Great views off our balcony which is large enough to eat breakfast on. A great family resort.

There is construction to two of pools which is slated to be completed by May 1st. Once done the kids will love there new slide and splash area.

Only one wish that would be a dinning option on the property. The do have a general store with pizza hut to go...but s true restaurant would be nice...

Room Tip: getting to the beach is tricky and a longer walk for those staying in the garden section. If this is...

I am sitting in my room at the Barony Beach Resort at the moment. It is a large two bedroom until with multiple flat screen televisions, whirlpool baths and DVD players. I would give it five stars but there is construction going on and we were placed at the rear of the property. It is quiet but well removed from the beach. I have stayed at many Marriott properties and this is the first that has treated an Interval exchange guest as a second class guest in the sense that there was no effort to provide a room closer to the beach although the exchanged room at the Barony Beach could easily have been a beach-front room. The staff is friendly and the property itself is on the beach. It's just that we are actually closer to the main resort of the Westin than the Marriott, which I find odd. That's the end of my complaints. The property is clean and well maintained. There is a better than average exercise room and once you find your way to the beach, it is miles long. It is late March and it is great weather. The days are 70 - 75 degrees (F) and the night pleasant. The flowers are in bloom - If you watch the Masters you get the idea. It you come, bring some layers as the nights can be cool when the wind comes up. Charleston and Savanah are good day trips and there are many good places to eat. A good resort for kids.

Room Tip: Unless you own at this property, you are not likely to get a room near the beach. Once you access th...

We exchanged into the Barony via Interval Intl during the week of March 12th and were fortunate to be placed in the Bayberry Building on the 3rd floor. It is on the south side of the property and was an excellent spot - we were close enough to the main building and indoor pool and marketplace, but a short walk to the beach. You could see the sunrise in the morning, and had the afternoon shade on your covered balcony. We didn't opt for additional housecleaning - there were plenty of supplies left for you in the villas (cleaning supplies, laundry soap (1 box), garbage bags, beach towels and bath towels). The villas are lovely, nicely appointed furniture, large flat screen TV's, and roomy for two adults and two teens. It was nice that we had separate sleeping areas (separated by the teens washroom) so rooms were at different ends of the villa. There was construction going on at the front of the property - but it did not detract from our vacation - a lot of recreational opportunities still available. At times it was noisy - but we expected it. We rented bikes on the property ($25 per bike for the week) Note - prices were going up to $30 the week we departed. The bikes were fantastic - and our teens loved biking on the beach. There are numerous bike paths and you are shaded most of the time. The Barony is a beautiful property - well treed and nicely landscaped, and once the landscaping projects are complete - will be a wonderful spot - only thing missing is a lazy river! The Barony is situated beside the Westin Resort and is directly on the beach. It is in a very quiet area of Hilton Head - a short bike ride to the Port Royal Golf Club. We were able to golf at Port Royal as arranged through the Marriott concierge. We played the Barony Course in the afternoon which was lovely. For a group of four, we paid a little under $300 for four sets of clubs, four rounds and two golf carts. There is a nice mini-putt course within a 10 minute bike ride and a Carrabbas restaurant. The marketplace at the Barony sold pretty much whatever you forgot to bring or ran out of. Prices weren't too unreasonable - you expect to pay for the convenience. There was the usual Starbucks and Pizza Pizza choices available, as well as ice cream and other treats. As the pool side bar was unavailable due to the construction, the marketplace did provide "pool side" drinks. We enjoyed our stay - wish it was a bit longer and would definitely return.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Bayberry Building which is away from the noise from the Westin Resort. Nice on the...

If you want to relax in a wooded, tucked away location yet have direct access to the beach, Barony is a perfect getaway. We like to stay near the pool close to the clubhouse. It's much quieter than the oceanside pool. The only thing they need to improve on is the poolside bar. It is so small.
