We had lunch under the trees our Saturday and it was so pleasant and the food was so good we went back the next day and sat inside because it was chilly. We would have gone back the next day too, but they're closed on Monday! The young guy behind the counter was friendly had a great sense of humor. The day we sat inside, we were chatting with a local guy while he ate (he said he comes there at least 3 times a week!), and he pulled up a chair and sat and talked with us. But don't go there just for the character of the place or the local personalities -- go there for the amazing food! We were a party of seven and everyone raved about their meal. Freshest and best fried oysters I have ever had, and the ones who had the shrimp and grits said the same thing. Can't recall what everyone had, but I don't think you could make a bad choice -- only advice is to get there early because on our second day they were running out of some things! Pasta salad is amazing. Also a couple in our party had the pecan pie (which he said his mother made) and they said it was delicious.
This is NOT fine dining. It's on disposable plates with plastic flatware and plastic drink cups. But it was good enough that we're talking about another trip to Daufuskie just so we can try the breakfast and go back for lunch. I would give the food six stars if I could!
