So disappointed in this hotel. The sheets and bedding were questionable. The sheets on the beds were either very limp or were not clean. Two of the pillow slips had some stains that looked like makeup or something which made me worry that the sheets were not changed between customers. Previous reviewers mentioned the very small bathroom, where you have to turn sideways to close the door. Like they reported, we are not large people, yet you had to suck in your stomach to close the door. However, the bathroom was extremely clean. The wine/snack at night was a nice touch and the breakfast was good too, with fresh fruit and banana nut bread. The picture of the room on-line does not match the actual room you are assigned. For the price you pay, it is not worth it.

The location of the Indigo Inn is prime in Charleston, which probably accounts for the price per night. The service was impeccable. However, those two things don't make up for the things that drove us batty.

Breakfast was okay, not great. You take your food out to the courtyard, as there are no tables inside. That's great when the weather is great, but if it is cold, or raining, would not be workable.

The bed was comfortable, but the room small. There was no table, or desk in the room, so no place to put things down - like watches, jewelry, or phones. Or a place to eat if you bring breakfast back to your room. No plugs either to charge our phones, etc.

The bathroom was weird. It had a long counter, which had french louvered doors opening into it, with a long counter, sink in the center. Then, at one end of the sink area, another door, with the toilet and shower (no tub) behind it. But that area was SO small that you had to step into the shower to close or open the door to the toilet. We had to take the toilet paper off of the roll, because it was so tight, you would literally have the toilet paper pressing into your side while sitting on the toilet.

We had planned to stay for two nights but checked out after one, and moved to another, less expensive, more spacious hotel which was not walking distance to the core. However, there is lots of public parking in Charleston, and you'll need the car anyway to get to the plantations.

My husband and I traveled to Charleston for a wedding and stayed at this hotel/inn. The best part of the inn is the location. It is steps away from great restaurants and shops. The staff was also very very friendly. They went out of their way to call cabs, recommend restaurants, helps us order delivery food late at night, and hold our luggage before check in.
The room was spacious and clean. There was also a small breakfast in the morning and some snacks in the afternoon available in the lobby.

This is a great little place that looks like it may have once been an old motel and has been nicely transformed into an inn. I cannot say enough about its strongest point - location! It is within walking distance of most of the wonderful sights and tastes of historic Charleston! The city market is only two short blocks away, Hymans Seafood is across the street, Fig restaurant is on the same block, and King Street is a block away! The breakfast is very nice as well as the afternoon wine and cheese. The courtyard is a great area to sit in while eating or just relaxing after an afternoon of walking the city. The rooms are nicely decorated and the beds are comfortable. The staff at the desk was friendly and helpful. I came across only a few negatives to the inn. The parking spots are small and difficult to maneuver a minivan and you have to pay $10 per night to park. The room itself is small especially when you have 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids.) But I was able to unpack and put things away in an orderly fashion to keep us from feeling cramped. The last negative is that the price is high, but I believe you are paying for the location. It is wonderful to be able to walk to everything and not worry about driving and trying to find a parking spot. That said I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: The third (top floor) seemed very peaceful.

Thank you for taking your time to write a review. Historically the Indigo Inn was a warehouse for indigo, a chief export of Charleston; the Limehouses made the purchase with the intent to turn
the building into an Inn. I do apologize about the parking lot; there are future plans to develop it
further.

We recently stayed at the Indigo Inn. The Inn is in a great location! Everything is within walking distance..great restaurants and all the sites of historic Charleston. The breakfast was nothing overly fancy, but served its purpose. The wine and cheese in the afternoon is nice. The courtyard, where you can eat, is very beautiful and relaxing. The room was not overly spacious, but was just fine for what we needed, sleeping and showering! The only complaints we had was that the AC unit in our room was very loud, you definitely heard every time it kicked on. Also, the area where breakfast is served is not very spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, we were pleased with our stay!
