Loved location of this hotel. Located in the middle of historic area and surrounded by bars, restaurants and night spots. From the hotel we were able to go everywhere quickly in Charleston.
Co located with Hyatt Place-entrance bit hidden but the two hotels create a quiet private center court with ample paid public parking-$17 per day.
Add up location, nice big room with full kitchen, ample free breakfast and this was a great place to stay for a day or week.

Customer service was fair. The young men outside the front door were not very welcoming at all. We were there five whole days celebrating my birthday and there was not one doorman that had a pleasant, welcoming presence. I made it a point to pay attention to this everytime we left the hotel or returned. Just a warm smile, a pleasant exchange, or a nice genuine greeting would have made all the difference. We tried to start the process by offering a nice "Hello!" "Hi there" "How's it going?" but it was always met with a solemn face and a monotone, low toned response that could hardly be heard. Hard to believe the whole doorman staff were so unfriendly.

The rooms were huge, clean, beautiful! Service amazing. And the location was perfect to get at everything on King Street, without being surrounded by noisy tourists in the French Quarter. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My daughter and I stayed at Hyatt House to get a downtown experience to tour the College of Charleston and get a feel for the local scene. We took a Palmetto Carriage tour of the city and loved that experience. See review for them. Our room was clean and updated. No exhaust fan in bathroom left room steamy after two showers. We kept AC low and that helped with humidity. We had no view of city and view was of hotel inner roof top. Gym was pretty nice, some machines needed work for excessive noise but were clean. Parking was $30/day for valet or $16/park in parking deck (hourly rate with max of $16 every 24 Hours, but that is for each time you come in; restarts every time you return so if you come back twice in a day it is worth using valet with unlimited parks in 24 hour period). Deck is directly across from hotel entrance. Hotel is farther out than some other hotels but still fairly closely situated across from atrium entrance. We chose to use deck and stay out all day a close using other decks for convienence. Found the city to be very walkable. I will admit I was surprised at how expensive everything in the city was. Hyatt House guest room cost us $309/night. But Bill for two nights was $715. Why? Sales tax is 7.5% and Accommodation tax is 6% and Destination Fee is $2.28/night. We bought two waters for $2.50 each in the lobby which is usually complimentary in high end hotels in other states. And that price also didn’t include parking. Prepare to spend loads on hotel and food. Probably should have stayed outside of city. Staff at hotel were pleasant, and complimentary breakfast was decent. Made to order omlet was undercooked but I didn’t tell them so that shouldn’t deter your visit. Overall, nice experience at hotel just pricey.

The staff is welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room is generous in size, clean, and well stocked. We appreciated the extra seating area and fridge. The amenities especially the indoor pool and fitness room/equipment surpassed our expectations. The breakfast buffet was well planned and the variety suited everyone's tastes and preferences. The location is a little away from activity and the downtown district, but being on King Street provides easy access and plenty of things to see and do within walking distance.

Room Tip: Ask to be on a floor without an ice machine.
