We stayed at the Inn for one night for my birthday. It was an amazing venue. We spent the entire day enjoying the beautiful gardens, taking a tour of the centuries old museum house, watching the historic crafters make their wares (a blacksmith, a cooper making barrels, etc.), along side the farm animals that were kept back in the day when it was a working plantation. All of the tours are included in your fee for the night if you are staying at the Inn. Breakfast and a wine/appetizer happy hour is included, as well. The grounds are expansive and beautiful. Our room was spacious, had a wood burning working fireplace and overlooked the river. Upon arrival, there was a personal, handwritten note by Abigail, the General Manager, congratulating me on my birthday. There was a beautiful cake with 4 candles in the frig. as a gift. The little touches, such as providing a flashlight to walk through the woods to the restaurant, umbrellas in a stand outside your room, make the Inn at Middleton Place earn a high ranking as an outstanding customer service oriented Inn, guaranteed to make their guests feel welcome and taken care of.

My one strong suggestion is to arrive in the daylight. The outside lighting is "atmospheric". and it is hard to access locations in the dark. In the daylight the place provides a different scene. The grounds are gorgeous, the food appropriate for both adults and children. The 5-7 pm reception is a must do. Great game room for the children and adults. Overall, my family and I had a wonderful, memorable holiday together.

We wanted to visit Charleston and have a unique experience. Well we got that. The inn is amazing. The facilities are very nice, but the grounds are amazing. Exploring the plantation was an experience not to be missed. It is a bit of a drive into Charleston, but more than manageable. If you have the opportunity, don't miss this spot.

Room tip: get a room with a fireplace.

My daughter's wedding at Middleton Inn took place on the bluff overlooking a bend in the Ashley River. Charleston's mild fall weather was perfect for the afternoon wedding and the moss draped live oaks added a romantic, graceful touch to the setting. Tiki torches lighted the way to the Lake House where a delicious buffet dinner prepared by Middleton Inn awaited guests. Staff was handsomely dressed for the occasion and provided impeccable service. Julie coordinated the event for Middleton Inn - she is awesome: professional, tactful, accommodating and efficient. Highly recommend the Inn as a place to stay or for a special event. The natural setting is showcased through the windows of the unique and classic rooms - each with wood and marble floors and wood burning fireplaces. The Lodge is a great gathering place at the end of the day for the Manager's reception - beautiful gardens, excellent restaurant on Middleton Plantation are both a short walk away - lots to do- thoroughly enjoyed !!!

Different experience for a getaway but wonderful! We loved having a fireplace in the room! The plantation gardens and house tour were a wonderful part of staying here. If you love the history of Charleston but are looking for something different and off the beaten path, this is it.
