“Great location!”
Reviewed 29 March 2012

The Hampton Inn Charleston - Historic District is a very nice place. It is located adjacent to the visitor center, from which you can book numerous tours and view some of the history of the city. The room was nice, clean and the bed was comfortable. There is the usual complimentary breakfast and coffee and tea are available throughout the day. There is no free shuttle from the airport, so expect to pay about $25 for a cab. Shuttle are available for $12-$13 a head, so if there are two of you, it makes sense to take a cab and go directly to the hotel. There is a daily parking fee if you drive your own vehicle. Overall, a very nice place.

This is not a typical Hampton Inn. It has a large lobby, breakfast area with hardwood floors and comfy couches and a really big flat screen TV. There is a doorman or more of a concierge in addition to the front desk staff. Everyone we talked to at the hotel was very helpful.

The best thing was the location right across the street from a trolley stop, but we walked most of the time. There are many restaurants and bars close by. The parking situation was a little awkward as you have to unload your suitcases in the lot and then drive into the garage. There isn't a direct exit from the garage into the hotel. We didn't have have a problem finding a spot in the garage.

Steps away from fun eateries and sightseeing. I checked out Charleston Fashion Week and it felt like the NYC fashion tents. The Hampton Inn staff was courteous and helpful. I was even offered choices on my room's location! The rooms are large, clean and comfy, so I enjoyed a good night's sleep. Breakfast is self serve and is a part of the deal. Well worth my stay! I would stay there again.

Room Tip: 4th floor away from elevators for least amount of foot traffic.

stayed here with my daughter during a visit to the college of charleston. hotel is very convenient to the college, restaurants, shopping and the charleston market. very clean, staff courteous and helpful. only complaint is that our room was on the first floor right next to an employee entrance which was quite noisy in the early morning. if i go back i will ask to be in a different location. always pleased with consistency of hampton inns. no qualms about staying here again.

Nice room, very friendly staff and super convenient. As soon as you walk out the hotel, you have the Charleston visitors center, shops, restaurants and more. Be aware, there is no parking. You have to pay a private company, that's attached to hotel. An additional $14 a day. Still worth it though
