“Great option in the heart of historic Charleston”
Reviewed 2 May 2012

Terry was a very pleasant host, full of recommendations and a delight to talk to. We stayed in room #4 which had an adjoining suite, nice to have the extra space. The bed was comfortable, noise level was a non issue, we even had a balcony to enjoy our coffee. Parking was plentiful and I can't overstate how good the location is -- right in the middle of everything of interest.

My only complaints are that the wifi was a little spotty, and that the breakfast dining room got pretty crowded during the morning rush...

We spent 2 nights at this B&B and would do so again. It is a lovely old building with wonderful verandahs to enjoy on hot summer days. Our room was on the third floor (there is no elevator) but was spacious, nicely decorated and quiet. However, it did not have an ensuite and so we had to share a (very small) bathroom with the other guest room on the floor. The location is excellent for exploring historic Charleston and close to good shopping on King Street. Off-street parking is available at the rear of the building. Charlene gave us a wonderful warm welcome when we arrived, and a hug when we left. She also provided excellent advice on where to eat and how best to get around the city.

My friend and I were going on a cruise leaving out of Charleston, and wanted to see the city a bit so we decided to come down early. We stayed at King George IV and had the BEST TIME. The inn itself is beautiful! Extremely well decorated and clean. It is located in the middle of the historic district of Charleston, and is a short walk from every place you may want to go. If that isn't enough to convince you, the Innkeepers are amazing. They are both super sweet and personable. After the cruise docked, we had an extra day in Charleston before we headed back to NYC and they allowed us and 4 of our friends to keep our luggage there all day!!! I have been to a lot of b&bs and really is one of the best!

We spent the weekend with at this B&B and would easily do it again! We were on the 4th floor, which was a bit of a workout, but it made me feel like I was working at working off all of the shrimp and grits and fried food we ate.

The location was wonderful. Very quiet, but close to lots.

Breakfast was great and a wonderful way to start the day! Terry was very friendly, engaging and very helpful! He definitely made the King George IV the homey and comfortable place you expect a B&B to be.

Two thumbs up!!!

Like the previous reviewer, I have just spent time in The King George IV Inn and would recommend it wholeheartedly. Charlene could not have made us feel more welcome and she certainly made us laugh. The location is great for wondering around Charleston on foot. Everything is so close whether it be shops, restaurants or historic buildings. We stayed in room 4, which has a living room as well as a bedroom with en suite shower. The living room was spacious and comfortable and had a door leading out to a private balcony with a wrought iron staircase which took you down to the car park. Yes, the balcony does overlook the car park, but it was still very pleasant to sit out sipping wine in the warm sunshine. The en suite is small however, particularly the shower cubicle itself, but there was plenty of shelf space and good lighting.
