An absolute must visit everytime we go to South Carolina. The slow cooked smoked meat is so tender and tasty. This time around I ended up bringing some back to the U.K. wrapped in foil !

OMG. We were in Charleston, SC. We had delicious Seafood the night before. We were looking for BBQ. We were told the Lewis has the Best BBQ in Charleston. What an understatement. The food was amazing. We had only had Brisket once before, and never fully appreciated how good it is. We stood in line. When we go to the Cooking area, where they cut the freshly BBQ's dishes, I knew that I wanted to try Brisket, but the nice guy serving offered me a small slice. OMG. It melted in my mouth. SO GOOD. My wife ordered Pork Ribs. OMG. This was easily the BEST BBQ that we have EVER tasted. (Granted, we are from the West Coast, and do not have any TRUE BBQs - it's called "grilling" out west. LOL. Back to Lewis - their side dishes were also amazing. we ordered "Green Chile Corn Pudding" - a bit spicy, but wonderful. Also ordered "Mac & Cheese". OMG. Wonderful. Also ordered "Fries -Crispy Sidewinders fried in tallow". Nice crisp and tasty. Their selection of Tap Beers was good. Ordered an IPA, which went perfectly with the Brisket. Perfect Dinner. Food was amazing. The beef brisket is like nothing I’ve tried before.
Really clean and staff are very friendly.
Be warned it’s popular so gets really busy.
We were only visiting Charleston for two days but chose to eat here both nights.

Large portions excellent food and a over the top friendly staff!! Tea was very good and fries were hot! My husband got potato salad and he said it was delicious. We got 2 sandwiches and honestly half filled us both up. Piled high bbq!

Probably the best BBQ I’ve had. On the recommendations of other TA reviews and my co-worker who lives in Charleston, I stopped in for dinner. WOW. I love this place. If you like brisket their prime beef brisket is outstanding. It’s so tender I could cut it with my plastic fork. Had some smoked Turkey breast. Delicious. For sides I chose the chili cornbread - unbelievably tasty - and the Mac n cheese. Lewis’ has a great happy vibe. Everyone was happy. There is indoor and outdoor seating. From the parking lot you can smell the wonderful BBQ. Highly recommend.
