I believe it is about a 20 minute drive form Charleston downtown but the drive was easy. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to view the garden, 2-3 hours. The admission only includes the garden but you can pay for extra. We decided to take the tram tour which was very informative which was $8 per person. If you want to save a little money, you can buy your ticket through Group On. When you get there, the ticket line is long but it goes by fast, 15-20 minutes. Even if you purchase your tickets through group on, you need to wait in this line.
Once you get in, you will be amazed how pretty the place is. Don't forget, different seasons of the year will produce different flowers. I would definitely recommend this plantation.
Definitely, a lot of pictures to be taken and wild life animals to see. The plantation is easy to follow with the map and don't forget there is a petting zoo for the kids.More
