“Seriously lacking in the basics”

I cannot understand how previous guests say they had a pleasant stay! I stayed a week and every morning I had water temperature issues in the shower (ongoing issue according to past reviews and other guests)! Parking is a plus but the GM of the property has 3 vehicles parked on the property (you find out a lot listening to employees complain), if parking is full (restaurant employees park there too)! The ads stay newly renovated but my room had outlet covers missing, 3 different wallpapers in the bedroom area alone, the closet had a different wallpaper and the bathroom has not been touched in 30 years. Cracked tile, moldy ceiling with water dripping from upstairs (reported but never fixed), peeling tub, rusty fixtures, and a hot water leak in the tub (reported but not fixed) that easily leaked a gallon of hot water an hour! The manager named Star who has to be the worst manager I have ever talked to...I am sorry, I spoke...she rolled her eyes and looked disguisted with having to talk to a guest.! This manager dresses like...well let's just say it would be more appropriate for a LATE night meeting in a parking lot! If this is what the management condones from a low-level manager at this motel, I will stay somewhere else. I was locked in here since I had a prepaid-no cancel reservation. I asked to get out early and Star said basically "you can leave but it is no cancel-no refund-no exception"!

The hotel room was a little tatty, but the beds were comfortable, shower functional and all rooms have a mini bar and microwave. The air conditioning system was very old and when we turned it on whilst it cooled the room fantastically, it sounded like an airplane taking off - so we could not have it on at all during the night. This hotels best point is its location - right in the heart of the historical district, it is easy to walk everywhere with ease. Parking is included in the price, this is good as parking is expensive in Charleston. Remember it is a value hotel - in a great location.

I stayed here with my husband while taking our yearly trip home from Florida. We knew we wanted to stay downtown and we couldn't beat this price. After reading some of the reviews I was very hesitant to stay. Seeing the hotel on the outside I was confused since the picture here looks much older. The inside of the room was a nice surprise as well with much of the room remodeled. It was pretty clean except for the bathroom which just needs to be redone. I enjoyed my stay although not a lot of time was spent in the room. We will stay here again if we come back to Charleston! Had a great trip!

Room Tip: We stayed in 119 and it was perfect. Closer to the street but still quiet.

My boyfriend, lab/husky, and I from NJ stayed here for 6 nights over the fourth of July weekend. We also stayed here for 5 nights last May also. You cannot beat the location and value! We paid an average of $109/n. You are walking distance from everything! Right on Meeting, next to Bay, King, Market, and the battery. We walked our dog every morning at Washington park only blocks away. The only complaint is parking is tight. We were afraid to go on outings because we might not have a spot when we got back but it was free so what do you expect?! Fridge and microwave were super awesome. Bathroom was a little outdated and leaky. Overall we would highly recommend this if you are driving in with a dog and want to be able to enjoy all the city has to offer food and beverage wise. We spent more on food and drinks each day then our hotel room!!!

Although room smelled clean upon entering, bathroom gtout was moldy and bathroom tub as well dirty. Wallpaper old with a few tears and spackled areas of previous drilling. We checked in and out in 30 minutes without the front desk asking why. They obviously new what they were selling and made no effort to question our reason for leaving
