My wife and I took a drive and ended-up here on a whim. They are still rebuilding from hurricane damage but it is worth a visit at any time. Unlike Myrtle-Beach and Hilton-Head and worth the visit. A great place to take the family; the dogs; and enjoy a quieter place to relax.

I didn't make it here this trip, and I know they sustained some hurricane/storm damage, but it has been a family favorite to visit that shore. They have had informational signs about the beach dynamic and storms moving the sands around. A lot got washed away in the past two years.
Some scenes from Forest Gump were filmed here. It has a jungle feel with black tail deer all around, and the occasional alligator.

We were not able to visit on this vacation due to storm related damage. However have on previous trips. There is good camping, and during low tide one can walk from Harbor to Hunting.

Beautiful beaches, friendly employees, beautiful light house. It does cost $2 a person to climb the light house, but it's worth it

I can't say enough good things about Hunting Island State Park and Ligthhouse! It costs $5 to enter. WELL worth it!! The drive through the park is just gorgeous! The beach is so beautiful I could stay there all day! The light house is so pretty. There are clean bathrooms there, a gift shop and snack area, picnic tables, trails, camping and more! It's an awesome place
