I and some friends happened to be passing through York and found out that it was a ood day for this visit. We were the only one on that tour and even if nobody was actually working at that time we enjoyed it.

We paid for the Steel Toe Tour where we were given over-shoes made of rubber with steel toes....weird! Your pack includes a Harley Hi-Viz, a Harley Pin and a group photo.
The tour itself lasts about 90 mins wearing headphones to hear the guide over the factory noise. An immaculate factory where everything is made to order. No stock is held and to be honest very little work is done. It looked like a dream job! Very interesting and a very good Harley gift shop at the end of the tour. Would highly recommend.

Tour begins in a theater with a short video about Harley Davidson history and culture. A tour guide then assists visitors with safety glasses and audio devices which visitors wear on the tour. Photography is prohibited. See the Harley website for information on required attire for the two separate tours. I took the "classic" factory tour. The tour guide was very informative and entertaining. There are several stops along the tour where the group stops to watch videos about the production process - the tour guide fills in the rest, provides more detail and answers questions along the way. There's a lot of walking and standing on this tour, so wear comfortable shoes. There are no stairs or uneven surfaces, nor are there any seats or other areas to rest along the way. It was neat to learn about the various Harley models and to see first-hand the actual production and assembly areas. (Tins - fenders and gas tanks - are made at this site, but all other components - frames, drive trains, etc., etc. - are shipped in for assembly at this site.) It's not nearly as large a facility as I thought it would be, but it's very clean, bright and organized. The employees our group encountered in the assembly areas were all very friendly and welcoming. It's awesome that Harley Davidson provides these tours for free!!

This is the tour that puts you beside the lines as the operate. Watch the US build something exciting. Tour guide was wonderful - a retired school teacher so pay attention... lol. You can see the dedication to quality rather than take someone's word in an advertisement. Very interesting.

In a town filled with art, museums, and many interesting things to see this is certainly near the top. We don't have a motorcycle but enjoyed seeing this venue. In a family of nine...four boys/men this was a good choice!
