My family recently dined at Caffe Amante and we were impressed by their great location, great menu, great service- and great prices! We chose this restaurant based on other TripAdvisor reviews for dining before a CLO performance.

Caffe Amante is located on the second floor of 5th Avenue Place, so you might have a short walk to the restaurant- and then just another pleasant stroll the nearby theatres. Our view of The Golden Triangle was great! PS: They will validate your parking in the 5th Avenue Place parking area!

The menu is not fancy or extensive, but there is enough variety to satisfy most any appetite! I'm sure the size of menu enabled the service be quick and the prices to be quite fair: no meal was more than $25.00! (Desserts and libations are available at very reasonable prices too!)

My family likes to try different eating establishments when we make our trips to Pittsburgh for theatre productions, but since dining at Caffe Amante- we are looking forward to a "repeat performance"! Encore!

Located in the Cultural District, this restaurant is a great place to go before the show. There is a great mix of entrees that will appeal to almost any diner, and the prices are quite reasonable. Also has a great view of the area.

Tried Café Amante for the first time tonight, before heading to Benedum to see Phantom. What a pleasant surprise. Start with easy access from parking garage straight to concourse in front of restaurant. Met by smiling hostess who inquired if we had parked in there garage and immediately provided complimentary parking. Our waitress, Janine, was attentive and genuinely friendly, not the least put off that our party not only was late but had increased by one. She immediately added a chair and place setting after making sure we wouldn't like a larger table. The Menu is well rounded Italian, with good variety even for the picky among us. Janine was quick with our drink orders and not put out having to repeat the specials for late arriving guests. I had the stuffed Banana peppers special and they were excellent. The wife had gnocchi farlenese, potato dumplings in a creamy tomato sauce and she raved about it. Our waitress was attentive and returned with checks as we were finishing with a reminder of our curtain time. This is an establishment I will be returning to with friends for all our visits to the downtown area.

Six of us went to dinner during Light Up Night in Pittsburgh - the third visit for us in as many years on the same night. While the food was good, the service could not have been worse - and it had nothing to do with the crowds - there were several empty tables in our section and the other areas were not crowded either. it was our waitress - because it was LIght-Up Night, she informed us that we couldn't get a validation for our parking (not true, the manager told us when we asked). Further, she said she'd take the green beans off the plate when she was asked - not that the person wanted a substitution, she just didn't want the beans - but served them anyway. When asked for a glass for the bottle of beer she brought, she brought a glass that had lipstick on it. By that time, we were so displeased with her service, we didn't bother her - she was nasty and rude. This wasn't a "new wait staff" situation. IF we ever go back, we will make sure we don't get her again. All of us were stunned at how she treated us.

For some unknown reason, this restaurant often seems to be overlooked by locals. Last weekend, I took two grandsons to a show at the Byham Theatre. Caffe Amante is just a short walk away. It does not have a child menu but the offering of spaghetti worked well and both plates were clean at the end of the meal. The check total was very reasonable for the area. The waitress seemed distracted by people at another table that it appeared she knew, so our service was a little slow particularly given the number of open tables. The food, as always, was good.
