This Marriott is n excellent property, as always for Marriotts. Clean, spacious rooms, helpful staff, immaculate lobby and corridor, etc. Free wi-fi, USA Today, and all the needed amenities in the room. They do it all very well.

No breakfast it the room, but there is an in-house restaurant which serves breakfast. Most properties do have a coffee center for guests to gat a cuppa, but not this one.

Lots of restaurants located on the same block as the hotel.

Room tip: Higher floors have a nice view

Thank you for your kind review! We love our hotel and our location! Isn't it great?

Our breakfast is served through our Bistro Restaurant with lots of made to order options. Our hotel serves Starbucks coffee and it is available anytime through our restaurant, 24 hours a day as most standard Courtyard hotel's coffee service. If you prefer the complimentary coffee, there are stations in each guest room with additional amenities available through the Front Desk if you run out!

We look forward to the opportunity to host you again, and truly appreciate your feedback about your stay!

This hotel was hard to rate. It really depends on why you're there. I gave it three stars to average it all out, but you really need to consider how important the location is. If location isn't important, I'd suggest you consider staying somewhere else.

For us, the location was key. That over shadowed everything else. It was only three blocks to the convention center. That was everything to us with so many trips to make! The front desk staff and breakfast staff (we had to buy our own breakfasts) were wonderful.

The room needed some help. It had huge high ceilings and very nice black-out curtains, but was pretty beat up. The drawers in the chest wouldn't go in right. As others mentioned about other rooms, the sink backed up. The shower head activator was really hard to get to go up - and once it did the shower was a veritable fire hose. That stayed up the entire week once we got it set to shower (no, house keeping didn't try to clean the tub ever, more on that below). Finally, if your room window faces the front of the hotel, be aware that the bar immediately across the street seems to have quite a bit going on weekend nights until at least 2 a.m. We had to use ear plugs.

During the week we were there, house keeping made our beds less than half of the time. Apparently they walked in, dropped some coffees, emptied the trash, and left clean towels on the divider in the bathroom without hanging anything up. We usually hung our own towels. When toilet paper ran out it was up to us to go find more. The toilet and the bath tub were NEVER cleaned once during the entire week. I've never in my life stayed at a Marriott with such poor house keeping - definitely a one star performance.

For those with any disabilities, this is an old building with a handful of stairs showing up here and there. Might want to ask about your room and inquire what it takes to get there (someone in wheelchair probably couldn't have gotten to our room easily).

There is a courtyard on the third floor that's entirely enclosed on all four sides by the building. It looks inviting, until you figure out that that's where the hotel employees go to smoke. The smoke has no way out but way, way up. If you're a smoker I suppose this would be a plus.

Unless we were doing a lot at the convention center again for a week, we wouldn't stay here again.

Room tip: Avoid rooms on the front of the hotel. If any disabilities, ask about stairs involved.

What a horrible view! The sheets were dirty, the tile in the bathroom is black, & I’m bummed. And I’m a rewards member. I totally blew it booking at this place. Definitely go to the William Penn, The Fairmont, or The Monaco.

When we visit Pittsburgh, this is where we like to stay. We go for the Steelers home opener for every year. This hotel is convenient. Its is walking distance to the stadium, market square, and many restaurant options. I include the bistro breakfast with our stay. It is convenient. I wish there were other coffee options besides Starbucks.

*IMPORTANT: If you booked for 2+ people and you are getting breakfast ASK AT CHECK-IN to make sure ALL of your party have a free breakfast. We were 2 people, and only one of us was listed for a free breakfast so that was an embarrassing surprise in the morning. Thankfully the staff at the breakfast area was very friendly and helpful about it.

HEADS-UP IF YOU HAVE ANY PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS BUT DON'T CONSIDER YOURSELF "HANDICAPPED"
We had unexpected steps to our room so that was a frustrating surprise as I have bad knees and we also had a luggage cart that we had to stop and carry our things down a flight of steps. We were not told about that at check-in or we would have requested a different room.

Very NICE black-out curtains--they were very helpful for sleep quality.

Finally a very MINOR note to the hotel, and to Marriott in general: Did not receive extra pillows as requested, but not once has any Marriott ever put extra pillows in the room even though I request it every single time. So nothing necessarily worse about this place than any other in that regard, but it needs to be noted since extra pillows are one of the options they give you on your preferences, and are not accommodated.

Nice average hotel. If you need to be near the convention center it is a fair choice.
No area shuttle like other similarly priced and even cheaper hotels have, but the very friendly valets will get you a taxi rather quickly.
Friendly front desk staff. If you're staying 2+ nights ask for the 500 extra points to skip housekeeping. They don't always remember to offer it.

The sink in room 814 was backed up. I forgot to mention it when leaving so I'm noting it here so it can be fixed. Shower sprays like crazy so don't expect to skip washing your hair unless you're quite flexible and creative. :-)

Otherwise nice, clean room with comfortable bed. Nice, friendly staff at all areas of the hotel.

Room tip: Even if not handicapped request "NO STAIRS" or you might get an end of hall surprise.

TravelingMarLa,
We appreciate the honest feedback on our hotel. We want to apologize for the embarrassment that you were caused at breakfast, when booking a reservation it typically tells you for how many people the breakfast is included. I am very pleased to hear that our Bistro staff were kind and took care of your party! Unfortunately, our hotel is four different building combine into one and with the imbalance of the last building the steps were provided in order to access the guest rooms at the end of the hallway. We will ensure to make it more known to guests as they are checking in! We are going through a renovation process starting at the beginning of November, we hope that you will be able to join us after so that you can experience the new Courtyard once completed!

We appreciate the feedback and hope to see you again during your next travel to Pittsburgh!
