“Excellent Lunch!!!!”
Reviewed 17 May 2012 via mobile

Had lunch recently at Habitat, the service, the presentation and the food quality was fantastic. Hands down it is the best of the best in Pittsburgh and is not the typical hotel restaurant. The best part of the experience is the open kitchen so you see your food being cooked and know its fresh. I'm surprised that they don't offer a special tasting night for the communal table. It would make a great Chef to guest experience....

“Great meal at Habitat”
Reviewed 7 May 2012

We enjoyed this restaurant, located in the wonderful Fairmont Pittsburgh. Though my raw vegetable salad appetizer was somewhat pedestrian, it was light and fresh, and the black cod in a spicy broth was absolutely delicious. Guests with gluten intolerance will enjoy a good selection of foods; according to the server, who was kind enough to provide us with delicious gluten-free bread for the meal, the kitchen is careful about not using wheat in everything. As the hotel is practically across the street from Heinz Hall, Habitat is perfect for a nice early meal before a symphony concert.

“The best soup I have ever tasted!”
Reviewed 5 May 2012 via mobile

When you go to Habitat, and you must, you have to try the Butternut Squash soup. It's easily the best soup I have ever tasted. It might even be the best item on any restaurant's menu I have ever eaten. Every spoonful is absolutely delicious!

The other menu items are very good as I mostly enjoy the numerous salad options.

The decor is pleasant and open and if you sit best the kitchen, a preferred spot, you can watch the masters at their craft.

Of course the service second to none as the staff is impeccably trained and helps you feel like you should pay a little extra for the food...and of course you will.

Enjoy!

“We Have a Habit of Eating Here”
Reviewed 12 April 2012

We often dine at Habitat before a symphony concert. The service is outstanding and the food preparation is creative (unlike many hotel restaurants). Highly recommended.

“This place is a breath of fresh air in Pittsburgh!”
Reviewed 11 April 2012

Organic and Sustainable say that over and over. Habitat is a place you would expect to find in San Francisco or Napa but not Pittsburgh. Prices are high for Pittsburgh but the food experience is very very good. I had the fresh Alaskan Salmon which was over the top good. ( $42.00 ) Although it was a 6oz portion it was cooked perfectly. The deserts are very good as well as I had the Raspberry vs. Chocolate. The smoked Trout and Tuna appetizers were oh so very good. Local Steel Town patrons will not like the portion size but the food prepared with perfection and my waiter and service was very good. I thought the wine list was good but could have used some out of the box upgrading.
