I live in Pittsburgh & am always seeking out new & delicious places to eat. Yo Ritas is one I keep coming back to. Its not your typical taqueria. The chef serves a new & inventive way to approach latin fare. The menu is seasonal and each offering is ingenuous. Don't forget to start with a drink from the awesome drink menu!

Tuna tacos are the best! Same with the duck. Always something interesting to try, like cockscomb tacos.

Some friends and I ate at Yo Rita's on a Friday night. The menu was interesting. Very ecclectic. We each ordered two tacos, so we tried a variety of the menu. Food took FOREVER to arrive. We had polished off a basket of salsa and chips and asked for more. I think everyone had a similar experience - really liked one of the tacos, really hated the other. I got one with black eyed peas and another with cripsy eggplant. Black bean one was surprisingly good. Other one was shockingly gross. Another person at our table ordered a taco with the goat cheese on it and also thought it was terrible. Perhaps spoiled goat cheese or something?

Anyway, after waiting forever for our food, we ate, suddenly the waiter was hovering over our table and became quite attentive. A line had formed of people waiting for a table. The minute the last person was done with their food and their plate was taken (our bills had already been presented and we had all already paid), the waiter came over and said they had people waiting for tables and he asked us to leave! We were aware that people were waiting and we were planning to wrap up our conversation and walk around anyway, but we were quite shocked by the rudeness of the waiter to ask us to leave! But, of course, he had waiting until we had paid our tips!!!

Honestly, with the food being hit or miss, the room was loud and being asked to leave, I don't think I would eat here again. Not worth it. Too many other good places to eat in the area.

We met up with some friends for dinner; Read reviews here and at urbanspoon prior and prepared for bad service/surliness. Those reviews were unfounded...for real. We had no problems with service whatsoever. For a party of 4 on a saturday night at 730, we were seated immediately, with chips and salsa provided for the table and refreshed as requested. Drink orders came next with prompt return. Appetizers came quickly...albondigas were tasty in smoky ancho or chipotle sauce if somewhat a little small. Papas were crisp with two good sauces. We had a fair share of the taco menu and they were all solid. chorizo with dippy egg was particulalry tasty.

Ok...so the space is kind of small and they dont take reservations. Some might also balk at Paying 9 bucks for a duck taco. However we had a good time with good service and fresh, quality food. The only thing i would do differently next time is skip the apps and get another taco.
