The rooms and Cathedral are pretty cool and worth a visit if you're in the area. It isn't the top destination, but definitely interesting.

Yesterday,I visited this special exhibit of Decorative Art and enjoyed its Nationality rooms from about 2 dozen different countries(Russia,Romania,Austria,Israel,Poland,India, just to cite a few). The Nationality Rooms are located on the first and third floors of University of Pittsburgh's Cathedral of Learning. The third floor rooms are free, the first floor ones have a nominal fee of $4.Students at times attend classes in these wonderful Nationality Rooms.

A hidden jewel at the center of the University of Pittsburgh. Each classroom is decorated authentically to reflect specific countries and nationalities. It's free to walk through the classrooms unless you want to pay for an inexpensive tour. Best time to visit is Christmas!

We were planning a quick view of the cathedral, but our 2 kids (15 and 11) were fascinated by it. They loved doing the self-guided tour of the nationality rooms. There are a number of historical rooms on the first floor that require a small fee and a key to enter. There are more nationality rooms on the third floor that can be viewed for free and have a self-guided tour button on the wall. All beautifully maintained.

The nationality rooms have a unique and interesting history here at Pitt. They are an inexpensive and interesting way to pass an afternoon in Pittsburgh. I've gone on tours with students and walked through informally with family and friends.
