We stayed here one evening in November and absolutely loved the experience. The hotel has all the charm and ambience of an upscale bread and breakfast with all the convenience and amenities of a luxury hotel. The building itself is old but it's been tastefully renovated and updated. Our bathroom was very modern and though our bedroom was a touch small it was extremely comfortable. The Delmonico room is a semi-formal dining room that is reminiscent of an earlier era. They served a continental breakfast which was very good. Downstairs is Bar Louis which has a full food menu and has an aura of a speak easy. Definitely not what you expect in rustic Pennsylvania but quite enjoyable. Another nice touch was an extensive binder in the room with numerous activities including sightseeing, hiking and biking trails, and just about anything else you could think of doing during your stay. Treat yourself to a nice weekend.

Thank you for staying with us last November! We're so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. Now that the warm months are upon us, I hope you'll consider returning and trying some of the outdoor activities featured in the binder in your room!

Perfect place to spend a night or weekend. Rooms immaculate, little small. If you just plan to sleep there the room is fine. The bathroom, very spacious, great two nozzle shower, cold tile floor though but warming rack for your towels. Lovely sun room on first floor to relax, read, drink wine. Quaint eating area, nice downstairs bar, friendly hosts. Recommended highly. I will return

Thanks for your nice review. If the tile floor was cold, it means the radiant heat was either turned off or malfunctioning. There are only a handful of rooms with a two nozzle shower, so I will have those checked to make sure the radiant floor heat is working properly. Thanks again.

Room: espresso machine broken; unable to completely close bathroom window which let in a slight draft; television small and old, temperature gauge in room not working properly.

Continental Breakfast: stale pastries (frozen then defrosted before being brought out and told they were made that very morning only a few hours ago), yogurt very good and granola never goes stale.

Service: reliable, but reluctant.

Housekeeping: underpaid.

Room lighting: light bulbs very weak--ostensibly energy savers but made with mercury and manufactured in China.

Bathroom: stains on the tiles in the shower, sink made in china, hair products are fake.

Bed: very comfortable.

Bill: a forced "donation" added to every bill, unless specified for it to be removed.

Overall: a $200 per night room, gets you a imposter's experience.

Room Tip: top floor has the best paintings in the hallway and the shiniest wood floors

Wow, I am so sorry you had such a terrible stay. I don't know if you brought any of this to our attention while you are here or not; we do our best to address every issue as it arises. The Nespresso machines do occasionally malfunction, but we keep an extra so they can be replaced immediately if that happens. Not sure what was wrong with the thermostat; they do function but sometimes it takes 10 or 15 minutes for the room temperature to catch up with the thermostat. The pastries were not frozen and defrosted before being brought out; they are baked fresh every morning. I'm glad you enjoyed the yogurt and granola. I don't know what room you were in, but I will ask housekeeping to check every room for stains in the shower. I'm not sure where the sinks are from, but I'm not sure that makes a difference in their functionality (we did prioritize Pennsylvania manufacturers' in the restoration, including all of our windows, doors, door hardware and other building materials manufactured in-state; we won an award for this). Not sure what you mean by the "hair products are fake"; they are from Kiehl's, a well-known, very old speciality manufacturer of premium hair and skin amenities. We are proud to provide them for our guests. The donation on your bill isn't forced! It is a $2 per night donation to the Delaware Highlands Conservancy, a local land trust that we support. Guest services staff points it out specifically to guests to provide them the option to have it removed if you so choose. Again, I am sorry you had such a disappointing experience, I only wish you had brought it to our attention while you were here. Regards, Sean Strub

Feels like old times. Despite its age, the building is in absolutely perfect conditions, equipped w a elevator, AC, heating. Having this in mind, remember that guests' steps in upper rooms may be heard sometimes (nothing to worry about though). The winter garden is beautifully decorated and totally welcoming.
Rooms are spacious some w a small sitting room, bathrooms adapted for elder people (handles, retractable stool). Amenities by Kiehl's. Water and coffee capsules as courtesy.
No safe available in my room (but we're talking about a city w 940 inhabitants). Parking lot available next to the backyard.
Bar Louis at the basement is a great option for nice cocktails. The bartender is a gem: very friendly.
A perfect destination for a weekend getaway to slow down from NYC's pace.
Absolutely a lovely place to come back (both: Fauchere and Milford)

Room Tip: Room next to Delmonico Room is near to AC exhauster and the piano, some noise the private room. can be arranged closing the bedroom's door.

Everything was wonderful. The hotel, the staff, the spa and the town. Lovely and relaxing from the moment we arrived. No request seemed too large or put anyone out. We would definitely like to go again!
