Description: Citronnelle is a tiny jewel box of a BYOB restaurant serving modern French cuisine (with a global twist) in a chic and cozy mid century modern setting. We use only the freshest local, seasonal (organic where possible) produce, locally raised (hormone/anti-biotic-free and grass-fed where possible) proteins, wild/sustainable seafood and the finest natural ingredients available. Citronnelle has 32 seats and is a BYOB ($5 corkage fee/bottle applies). Because of our petite size, reservations are highly recommended. Merci et à bientôt!

Our party of four had a delightful dinner here. The crab croquettes were creamy and delicious. The gnocchi, steak, and cassoulet main dishes were excellent.
The chocolate soufflé was delicious. The only complaint was that vanilla bourbon ice cream and apple cinnamon were pared and HAD to be served together. We couldn't order one flavor without the other. Very odd! Service was attentive and pleasant. The room holds only about 30 diners, and has a mini fireplace. The owner is a true gourmet chef, and his wife is the warm hostess and room manager. A great place to dine.

We ate here because we could easily walk to the Fulton Opera House for a show. The Heirloom Tomato Medley and the black raspberry/chocolate sorbet desserts were outstanding. The service was excellent. Nicely decorated. Comfortable atmosphere. The sound-absorbing blocks in the ceiling prevent the noise level from rising. It was not crowded the night we were there; otherwise I might have felt claustrophobic. But this might not bother other people.

We had dinner on a Saturday at Citronelle and it was a lovely evening. While the restaurant was busy it was not overly loud. The food was excellent- we had the octopus first course which we shared and it was a perfect starter. My husband had the steak and loved it - it was perfectly cooked and he enjoyed the garlicky spinach. I tried the lamb tagine and it was a great Fall choice - savory, salty with a hint of sweetness. We finished with coffee that was excellent and served with warmed milk. We will definitely be back - we loved it and also like that you can make reservations on line via their web site.

Three of us enjoyed an evening at Citronella sharing our different appetizers and entrées. Two of us split a dessert. The restaurant is in a storefront near several parking garages. On entering into a tiny reception area we were greeted by the hostess and seated immediately. The table was spacious enough for elbow room and ample space for serving, no sense of crowding. Soft jazz was playing giving a comfortable soundscape and muting neighboring conversations. The earthy brown based decor was warm, welcoming, and relaxing. My foie gras appetizer was a cool cream based texture with rich duck liver flavor contrasted with candied walnuts for texture and a sharp balsamic reduction. The small dome shaped croquettes had a rich crab flavor, soft texture, slight crispness from the bread coating with greens adding color and a fiber texture. The broiled octopus was toothsomely firm with marine flavor balanced with aromatic smoked lardons. Our main courses arrived after a delightful ten minute rest. The NY strip was juicy, flavorful as anticipated from being grass finished with a long aftertaste. The pork loin, also pastured, had a full umami flavor with a brown sauce that was light and filled your palate with rounded flavors but lacked any sensation of heaviness. My tangine lamb lollipops lived up to the standards of other entrees. The couscous was tender and had a light nutty taste. I am not a fan of squash so my opinion is worthless, too personal. The soufflés were better than most I have enjoyed and seemed to be more redolent on the palate than most. Dark roast coffee with a wonderful crema was an elegant ending.
With two servers the service was attentive, not intrusive, and paced perfectly for our desire to attentively embrace an evening of dining as an event.
This is a BYOB restaurant so our wine cellar needed to provide an excellent bottle to compliment the meal. We had a 2012 Bordeaux from an estate neighboring Chateau Petrus. A great match for this meal.
