Nimbin Backpackers at Granny's Farm
Reviewed 10 October 2009

we went to nimbin not knowing what to expect, especially about where we were going to stay...
we neednt have worried! we fell in love with grannys farm and ended up staying four nights! it was everything we could have wished for..double room great value $50, really cosy and very clean! the place has recently been renovated, painted, new carpets etc etc

the kitchen and living room area was lovely, just like sitting in your own living room at home, the views were beautiful, and the total peace and quiet refreshing!

its run by a family..mum dad and son who are all lovely and accept you into the hostel as part of their family, theres no such thing as stress in grannys farm , the best place to unwind.... thanks martin and all....

I was meant to go for one night but had so much fun here ended up staying a second. What a friendly place! So many nationalities were staying here. Everyone seemed happy to be there. The hostel is in a pleasant countryside setting but its still only a short walk to the town. The staff were just as friendly as the guests, they even gave me and my friends (who i met on the bus going there) a better room than the one we initially booked - it was lovely and had its own veranda by a pool. They were laidback when i used the computer and let me run over time for free. Same when i was waiting for bus to leave..they let me sit in the dorm even though i should have checked out hours before, so i was still lying on my bed and they were fine about it! We had a whole dorm to ourselves and we ended up having parties on our veranda. There is a communal area at this hostel where everyone tends to congregate especially in the evenings. The staff here really know how to make the travellers seem welcome. I made friends also visiting Nimbin that i'm still in contact with - its that kind of place. It was pouring with heavy rain the whole time yet i still had one of the best times ever! Everyone was so friendly which is what i needed after travelling on my own for a while. The town is cool although you do get to see what the effects would be for anyone with a long term use of cannibis.(ie some of the residents) A good advert to not take it! Its like a Glastonbury or a HaightAshbury in the rainforest. A quirky and colourful little place. I also, despite the rain, enjoyed walking out into the bush seeing all the plants, cows and greenery! Went to a great waterhole too, spent the day swimming and watching the turtles there!
